Hi everyone
You all are going to make me cry. Your thoughts and prayers are what's keeping alot of us going.
I do have some good news (I think). The apartments we service, are needing us to go in ASAP. Only thing (as of right now, and that changes daily) is that if you get a pass to go into Jefferson Parish after Thursday, you have to stay. So Don is probably going to do it. The apartments they are eager to get up and running have power and water and are gated and ......many members of the NOPD are needing a permanent residence. Both of us can't leave our boys for three weeks (at least)
We did fine going into Jefferson Parish. I never once felt the need to put a finger on Smith&Wesson. All of us should be SO PROUD of our Armed Forces. They are comforting and so polite. They were taking pictures of us as we were taking pictures of them! We yelled 'thank you' and gave them all thumbs up. Just to see a smile on their faces gave us hope. They are respected amongst the scum of the scum in my parish. It's just a damn shame it came to this............
I really need to get to bed, but I wanted to post this while I had a line; I may not tomarrow.
Update on family member: My cousin in law was found in his home Sunday nite unconscious. He had aspirated. I called ICU and the nurse said that he was on a ventilator, and they couldn't tell if his movement was voluntary or involuntary. Pupils didn't react. Upon ariving at the hospital, the MP said only one of us could go in. The rest had to stay in the parking lot. It was HOT, and of course dumb me thought we were going to sit in a waiting room and wanted to look skinny, and wore a black tank top with black shorts. Anyway, Derryl comes out and said he's suffered a massive stroke.....My EMT friends figure it was the heat since the SWAT friend that found him said the house had to be at least 110 degrees.
This evening the neurologist called Derryl (you have to be out Jefferson by 6pm) and was very frank with her; saying she needs to think of what she wants to do. Only 25% of the brain is functioning, and longterm expectancy is in a vegatative state (Terry Schiavo scenario). He had told her what he wants and her brain knows what she needs to do, and she'll do it when her heart says it's OK. Please keep her in your prayers; she needs them more than I do, for sure.
Again, I thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kind words. I'll checkin as soon as I can, but it could be a few days. Peace, Love, and God Bless, Deb
