My DH grew up with artificial trees because his dad was a firefighter and had been to too many house fires caused by dried out trees; so this will be my 21st year with an artificial one. A few years ago we invested in a beautiful one...it looks better than some of the real ones I've seen lately. I think they have the advantage over the real ones...can be put up & taken down whenever you get around to it, no need to worry about it getting too dry and no falling needles to worry about. There are so many beautiful ones out there, some even come with the light already on them.sohappy: ) I say go for it!
My father was a volunteer fireman, so I never remembered having a real tree. When we moved into our house, we got a real one that first Christmas. I think he let us turn the lights on for an hour on Christmas day  After that, it was artifical all the way. We got this one 2 or 3 years ago. I call it Treezilla2. Its relatively easy to assemble and store in the attic, but Treezilla1 took me an entire day to assemble! It had 50,000 branches that had to be attached individually...ahhh..what a nightmare!!
Jer, I have a few of my Christmas 2000 pics in my photo album right now. My puter was too slow last night to let me upload more. I will put some from last year in there though, hopefully tomorrow
