ive just watched meet the robinsons (which is very good) and was thinking how cool it would be if they had a meet the robinsons ride in magic kingdom in tomorrowland!!! it would be ace.

just my opinion -if they did it they could get rid of stitch or the monsters inc comedy club thingy.

plus it would fit in with the tomorrowland theming -in the film you see space mountain and the TTA and the astro orbiter.

if they did it right it would be amazing!

I loved the film, as did the other 42 people that saw it, but it was not even close to a big draw. I think Disney gave up on it before it came out and just moved on to the next Pixar film. But it was a great movie and would have fit in Tomorrowland so well....but this will get filed right next to Atlantis and Treasure Planet.

The film was no where near a success. I work at my local Disney Store, and as a matter of fact, Meet the Robinsons was supposed to be the next pre-order (with lithos and other goodies) after the Jungle Book. The movie did so poorly that Disney is just skipping the Robinson pre-order and is making Ratatoullie the next pre-order! Also all our Robinson stock is heavily on sale because no one is buying any of it!
However I did love the film, but i can see why it wasnt a big draw. It is too emotional and confusing for little kids to understand. They want to see flashy colors and childish humor! The film was great IMO.

I'll probably get flamed for this, but I think they should add elements of Meet The Robinsons to COP. I think it fits perfect with the theme of COP, and they could have some great additions. We all want the ride updated, and as long as the don't replace "There's A Great Big Beautiful Tommorow" with the song from the movie, I think it could be kinda cool.

The funny part is that the attraction version of "Great Big Beautiful Tomoorrow" was used in the temp soundtrack when I saw a work-in-progress preview of it a little over a year ago. They used it during the flyby of Todayland, and it fit so much better than the song they ultimately went with. Actually, I thought much of the temp soundtrack was better than what they used (I even made sure to note just how much I loved the songs they used on the survey they gave us), though I did like Danny Elfman's score. I keep hoping when they release the DVD they'll put the work-in-progress version of it on there, too, but I'm not holding my breath.
"Meet the Robinsons" truly was one of those great Disney films that got seriously screwed in the theaters. I hope it catches on when it hits DVD. It does have great attraction possibilities.

I don't think so...they seemed to promote it pretty heavily.:veryconfu

We absolutely loved Meet the Robinsons. The short at the beginning and the quote by Walt at the end were a very nice touch and I still can't hear Little Wonders by Rob Thomas without tearing up. We watched it the first weekend it came out and then again in 3D at Downtown Disney. Fantastic film. An instant classic IMHO.

Personally, I wish they'd return Tommorrowland to a classic, respectable Sci-Fi theme and quite this infilration of stupid Pixar Cartoons. :brick:

But people at work tease me about how set in my ways I am for a 32 year old, and I admit I don't like change. So I'm probably one of those who would have the parks stay as they were in the 80's. :D Okay, maybe not that extreme, but if we are going to have inevitable change, at least make it quality change. And I think the proper theme of tommorrowland should be the classic sci-fi theme that many of us grew up with and not just the latest round of cartoons that Disney has released.

I wouldn't call Meet the Robinson's a "flop" per say... It made almost $98 million and a "blockbuster" is usually about $100 million... and MtR was pretty close!

By comparison, "Treasure Planet" only made about $38 million... that's MUCH more of a flop

We really enjoyed the movie as well. I do hope to see some kind of presence in the parks. I don't know many people who saw the movie but it was really well done.

I saw Meet the Robinsons via pay per view at a hotel at the beach a few weeks ago. I was the only one who stayed up to watch all of it and I can honestly say this is one of my big new Disney favorites. This is an awesome, awesome movie. I totally got the message. I ended up crying at the end all by myself. LOL!

Keep moving forward.

Add me to the list of people who absolutely loved this movie. I saw it twice in theatres, and would have gone again but the only theatre near me had it solely in 3D (meaning mucho $$). It really had a lot of heart and gave me a lot of hope for the continuation of classic Disney animated films. I'm greatly anticipating its DVD release.

was stitch a success

Not to sound like I'm trying to be a smarty farty or anything, but were you kidding about wondering if stitch was a successful movie? Because if you are serious I'm just wondering what planet you were on to not know how wildly successful that movie was. Was is planet E-ar-th?

well then here is a slap in the face for you.

stitch wasn't a success in theaters. he was only succesfull later on on DVD and merchandise it was sort of a slow popularity. much like Family guy was a slow hit and didn't do very well then boom! it's really popular now.

I loved Meet The Robinsons (parents hated it said it was boreing) I can not wait for the dvd. It really isn't getting the props it deserves. I also have have seen the merch at the Disney Store on a big discount. I truely believe that this movie could be its own attraction but it just won't happen. I can only hope they at least move over the meet & greets that were at DHS to do sets in MK on a regular basis. I was actualy going to be Wilbur at MNSSHP because I have a young look & if you see my hair it would fit well.(after I dye it black) But money is low I don't think I will be able to do it this year. :(

Are we arguing whether Stitch the character or the movie Lilo and Stitch was immediately popular? Because the movie was a monster hit, raking in $145 million domestically and $273 million globally.

Lewis, Wilbur and The Bowler Hat Guy did make a brief appearance in the parks earlier this year, but soon after it became apparent that the movie wasn't going to be a huge hit they disappeared. I took these photos at DCA in April. The characters were also showing up in WDW around the same time.

Was this a re-make of Swiss Family Robinsons???

Just kidding.

Go to any elementary school in America & see what the kids are talking about . . . its still Cars & Incredibles if they are talking Disney. I have never heard a child on the teams I coach mention MTR. But Woody, Buzz, Dash, Lightening, Stitch or his experiment cousins are mentioned quite frequently.

I bet that very few kids even remember MTR. I am going to school lunch tomorrow. I'll try to find out.
