McDonalds food being removed from Restaurantosaurus?

I'm not seeing the need for all the McDonald's bashing in this thread.

If you don't like McDonalds, don't eat there. It's that simple.
I do know, however, that a LOT of adults do enjoy McDonalds as do their children and Disney has always been about making their guests happy.

I also know, that as a former U.S.D.A. Food inspector, (for 10 years) McDonalds food is MUCH healthier than a LOT of other choices people make in the parks ie Pizza, some of the decadent Pastries in France and Norway, and the greasy Fish and Chips in the UK pavillion just to name a few.

I'd also be willing to bet that the burgers in McDonalds are healthier than the ones found in Pecos Bills, Cosmic Ray's or The Electric Umbrella at EPCOT Center.

McDonalds has strict rules about what goes into their burgers and I can tell you from experiance that their burgers contain less fat than most fast food burgers, and unless you just buy extra lean ground chuck, probably less fat than the burgers some of you eat at home.

As for fries, I bet most people would agree with me when asked, that McDonald fries, when hot and freshly made, are much tastier than the greasy, limp, soggy fries sold all over Disney property.

As for dining at McDonalds, it's like anything else, moderation is the key. An occasional trip to McDonalds is fine, but a steady diet of their menu isn't recommended.

Tread lightly, my friend...common sense can sometimes be frowned upon here.

McDonald's was the sponsor for the entire Dinoland area. It was a 10 year agreement, DAK just had it's 10th anniversary. McDonald's decided not to renew their sponsorship, or maybe just sponsor some fry carts now. The expense of Dino-Rama really drove them crazy especially just for some carnival rides. They moved out of the VIP at Dinosaur 3rd Floor a long time ago.

God bless the "Ignore" button.
I would cry if McDonald's went out of business, but I don't think that they should be in Disney parks. On that note, I don't think any company should be in Disney parks, but, alas, their money is needed to keep the park afloat, I guess, so... bring on the fast food I guess...

This video is a joke. She displayed RAW potatoes versus FRIED potatos. Raw potatos are full of water and moisture is the breeding ground of bacteria. The alleged 4 year old burger is dried out as well. If she took a fresh burger, which is full of moisture, and left it out at room temperature it would be moldy as well. That 4 year old burger she displays in the video has been left out to dry, and then refridgerated or frozen before the mold had time to grow to preserve it until it's next showing.

I can't believe people actually believe things like this just because it's on TV or YouTube :ROFLOL:

If you take the moisture out of ANYTHING edible, and then store it where there is low humity it will not become moldy.

I bet if that same lady in this video, dropped that same 4 year old burger in some water, then removed it, then set it on the counter, it would turn moldy pretty quick.

Ever buy a box or bag Croutons? They stay good for a LONG period of time.
Why? Because there is an absence of moisture.

That heat lamp at McDonalds sucks all the moisture out of the food as well. Thats why I won't buy fries that aren't freshly made.

I do not believe everything I hear or see..I just read your post and remembered the video..

I do not eat McDonalds at all anyway..I do not really like fast food:shrug:

Just thought the video was kinda nasty.

It's rather amusing the way people get worked up over the fact that Disney allows an outside company like McDonald's to provide food in the parks. Would you really feel so much better eating 100% Disney fries than McDonald's fries? Why exactly? It isn't like Disney hired McDonald's to build PlayPlaces all over the parks instead of a highly themed Disney attraction, they're simply serving McNuggets and fries. Is a Disney chicken nugget just that much more magical to you? A Disney Cast Member is still making it and serving it to you, no CM's were harmed in the making of those McDonald's fries, nothing is being outsourced. Why the fuss?

It's one of 3 things.

1) They don't like McDonald's. Therefore, they should not have to look at the product. Or better yet, no one should be permitted to consume the product.

or

2) They feel that any consumption of McDonald's food is not healthful...period. Therefore, no one should be permitted to consume the product, regardless of the fact the food Disney serves is no better.

or

3) They allow the presence of anything outside of the Disney label to "ruin" the experience for them.

In reality, it all comes down to what "they" want and what "they" believe. I think most of the folks who walk into a Disney park could not care less.

Nope. He was flash-frozen to preserve freshness.

LMAO! That did make me giggle.

I hope thats not ture about him being buried under there.

Though if he is, can i reserve my space under the tree? I think it'd be awesome to be buried there. Even though i'd much rather be cremated, being buried under the TOL wins hands down.

Exactly...if you don't like it...it's not for you...fine. But just b/c it's not for you, doesn't mean there's someone else out there who doesn't like the fact that McDonalds is there. (Or in some cases, in a picky child situation, was happy there was McDonalds food b/c it was actually something their child would eat).

I don't get the people who complain about the sponsorship though. Nestle has a sponsorship...and they used to sell those big cookie ice cream sandwiches Disney took away the cookie sandwiches and people were outraged! No one complained they were glad the treat was gone b/c it was unhealthy! The majority of people were distinctly upset. Now that I believe it's back...people are shouting the praises!

I fail to see the difference. Why can people be outraged at a ice cream cookie, but McDonalds going away, they celebrate?

...regardless of the fact the food Disney serves is no better.

And you know this how? Disney doesn't publish nutritional information, so I'm curious where you've found this.

Edit: According to this: http://corporate.disney.go.com/corporate/moreinfo/well_balanced_meals.html Disney should have phased out most trans fats in the food they serve. They've also introduced new hamburgers with calories from fat not exceeding 20%. The lowest you'll find from McDonald's is 32% in their regular hamburger, and boy does it skyrocket from there. Also, don't forget the 13 grams of trans fat in a small serving of McDonald's fries.

I'm all for letting people eat what they want, but spreading misinformation about the quality of Disney food isn't cool.

You are wrong about the 13 grams for small fries...I don't even have the desire, or time, to to double check all your other "facts".

You're right, actually. I misread the McDonald's nutritional sheet. You should still check out Disney's healthier food initiatives (the link I posted is a good starting point). It may even show you that the 6.9g of trans fats in the McDonald's fries are still > 0.

I also remember people being upset when *Ken's Honey Mustard* dressing (or was it sauce?) went missing for a while.

How many people would be upset if the *Dole Whip* was gone? What about *Coca-cola*? I'm sure people would complain about paying $2 for a bottle of generic cola.

Product placement was in Disneyland when it opened, and continues in it's fine tradition.

I really do not have a problem with McDonalds being in the parks. In fact, I really could care less. For me, no harm/no foul on whether or not they disappear from the parks.
