Rock-A-Fire and about a hundred other clone AA restaurant shows throughout the 80s! ShowbizPizza.com has a good archive of a lot of them, I love that stuff.

Growing up in South FL in the 80s, these things were everrrywhere. Loved going to them, it's sad they are all gone now and all that's left is awful Chuck E Cheese.

Nice piece of history, Chuck E Cheese started with its first location about 10 miles away from where I grew up in 1977.

I was unlucky enough to have grown up during the skater chuck e era

might not mean much to many, but that always eats me about attractions and such i once adored being long gone...
yeah, i can no longer experience them, but also the fact that younger folks will never have the same chance to fall in love.

all works out, tho, because there'll be cool things you can dig that pop up after i'm dead :joyfull:

Unlucky in the sense the animatronic entertainment started to downgrade during this era. I remember them being very creepy to a young me, and a lot of kids thought the same, because the area they were at was empty.
For whatever reason the people at my local chuck e thought it was a good idea to make them sensor controlled (so if a kid was even slightly near them, they would start up), adding the creep factor. The play areas were awesome though.
In a perfect world every chuck e cheese would have this.
(tl:dr: Early 00s chuck-e animatronic negligence caused creep factor that would later cause five nights at freddy's. Everything else was good.)

Anyone on the left coast with insider information on when they are shooting for Matterhorn to reopen? They like these very ambiguous projections lately. I feel like they should be able to get these things within a 2-4 week period instead of a whole quarter of the year.

It just went down this past week, I don't think there is word yet on any potential opening date.

The County Bears need to make a comeback in Anaheim. They owe us for Pixar Pier. Put them in Grizzly Peak. Maybe not as a show though. Maybe as a dark ride or coaster.... and then I woke up.
Honestly, part of me feels we're lucky the Country Bears exist at all in today's overly sensitive culture.

I see Country Bears come up a lot. I've never seen the show. I know, for shame. Hopefully when I make the trip to WDW I can see them in action.

Why is Country Bears so special? Is it similar in style to the Tiki Room?

It looks like Matterhorn and Pinocchio will go down on July 30th with Matterhorn saying nothing more than “Fall 2018” for a reopening. Those are two pretty big attractions to lose there. Hoping they get Matterhorn running in early Fall as I hate missing Anaheim specific attractions when we go out there.
This is about the time when rides of that caliber are refurbished because of Labor Day and the holidays.

Bear Country is just a fun show. They even had a Christmas Show. Hopefully you can someday get to WDW to see it sometime. I would rather have Bear Country back than The Winnie the Pooh ride.

That maybe true for WDW, but not DLR.

Prior to this year DLR refurb time was primarily January-April. This year is different as they are trying to get a lot of projects done prior to Star Wars Galaxy Edge opening next summer. However since DLR busy season has been changing over the last couple of years, they may switch to doing refurbs at different times during the year.
