I don't buy this argument. What are we, children who can't control what we do, or tolerate a little discomfort?

Aside from people who already have breathing issues, a mask does not suffocate you - if it does, you are doing something wrong.

You don't need to constantly touch your face or adjust you mask. Just don't do it. Sure, not wearing a mask is more comfortable than wearing one, but so are a lot of other things we do for the sake of society. Maybe people don't like wearing pants - but they do. , WDW does not allow short shorts, but some people are more comfortable in them.

People make wearing a mask seem like they are wearing a dive mask and snorkel while wearing a 50lb weighted vest under a winter coat.

As for "Staying home if you are sick or not feeling well - something the majority never did - is key" that is part of the problem. Many people are sick, and are shedding virus, but still feel fine. Also, we can't get people to agree to wear a mask to help benefit the population as a whole, do you really think you can get a person who feels under the weather to stay home.
That's all fine and well, but you know if people are hurrying with excitement toward Splash Mountain the mask will be touched with people not even knowing they did it.

So - statistics on this survey are pretty much bearing out a good 50% population cut. Hey, WDW, was gonna do that anyway :).
Appears that the goal will be met, by mandating Masks for visitors :).

Just us - booked for NOV, got our Restaurant Ressies (we'll see if they stick), wearing masks :).

No, I won't go, and I really hope that they will refund me for the months they were closed and the months they require masks for my annual pass. I struggle in the heat to begin with, I couldn't imagine wearing a mask.

Also, you have to remember that all the people in here saying they would wear masks are adults. Can you imagine trying to get a child to wear a mask all day in Florida summer weather, or honestly, all day period? I know there are some kids who have that as their reality already, but I have a feeling they don't take trips to Disney in the height of summer.

Also the mask is pretty useless when you are constantly taking it off and on to drink and stay hydrated. I am constantly drinking water when I am there. My hands would be raw the first day from washing them every time I remove my mask to drink and again to put it back on. I can imagine the numbers of people being dehydrated and having medical issues from that and the heat would increase a lot. It would be a safety hazard in that respect. How many people saying they will wear a mask to get in can say 100% that they won't end up ill from the heat/dehydration? How many of you have been in that situation already and know for sure your body can handle it?

I can also say I would constantly be adjusting the mask or moving it because I would be hot, sweaty, and just uncomfortable.

It's not practical. Yes it is being done in China, but they are used to masks all the time. The majority grow up with it. Their bodies are used to it. They are just popping one on for a week of vacation in a hot, humid climate that they likely aren't used to to begin with. Being from NY our weather is drastically different, even our heat and humidity does not feel the same as the heat and humidity in Florida.

Also I know a lot are saying "oh look it would work because half the people on this board say they would wear one", but this board does not make up the majority of travelers and there are far more "die hards" here than there are in reality. So...I am thinking Disney still will be taking a huge financial hit by requiring it.

I wish I could like this post a hundred times.

I drink a lot of water in general. It's very important to stay hydrated especially in the summer.

I also eat a lot of snacks in the parks too. I feel more at risk wearing a face mask from all the touching/adjusting.

So, to recap: masks will be a thing at WDW for a time; half of us won't go, the other half will be happy to go. So, I expect indepth reports as well as tips-n-tricks about wearing masks in heat/humidity for many hours. Don't spare any detail! Your experiences will write the next chapter in Florida tourism! 👍
(On another note, masks will probably be a thing everywhere for a time...)

It's going to be second nature, ( not a comfortable one, but it will be ).

It's easy to sit in a climate controlled environment and say wearing a mask at Disney will be fine and no big deal. The production floor at the facility where I work has the heat and humidity of a summer day at WDW. We have been required to wear masks facility wide for 3 weeks now. Management announced yesterday that, in this department, masks would no longer be required due to the threat of heat related illness. I don't have stay in this environment all day but I do have to go out in it a few times a day. It's miserable and that's without hot pavement beneath me and the sun beating down on me. My family and I could tough it out at Disney with masks but that's not my idea of a vacation. Just managing our kids and masks would be a huge hassle and require my and my wife's constant attention. We're DVC and have an end of September trip booked but we will vacation elsewhere if masks are still required then.

If you are planning to go to WDW and purchase one of their cute masks, think twice about it. They are cute, but they are cheaply made. A paper towel protects you more than the one-layer polyester masks they are selling.

When the CEO speaks about upcoming policy, it is going to happen and cast members are instructed to enforce.
Yes, cast members for sure. I'm talking guests as being "likely required" as he said. Odds are they will in some form, but it's not a mandatory as the original poster said.

I have a general mask question...
Has anyone found a mask that has elastic at the nose?
I've said from the get go that to me it seems that would help with eliminating fogged glasses and giving you stretch and I can't seem to find one.
I know there are ones with the bar at the nose but I really want elastic.

If the parks are open, they dont owe you compensation for missed park days.

As someone who physically can not wear a mask for an extended length of time, especially in extreme heat without being in pain or at more risk for dangerous heat related illness due to a chronic condition it is frustrating that they would have that sort of mindset too.

I would not have purchased the pass knowing I physically could not go. I am not one of those people who simply refuse to wear one or would just be a little uncomfortable.

You do know that you can request a partial refund for your AP, right? Disney is never going to make every single person happy with what they decide, and even before this, not everyone was, so we deal with what is in front of us, and make the best decisions for us.
