IMO, I think they should drop Captain America 4 to Dis+ right before this releases in theaters. More people will go to the theater to watch this if they feel like they are "caught up".

This is a major pet peeve and at least part of the reason I wait for every film to drop on Disney+. If I can't be caught up before the occasional one I might be willing to pay to see in a theater, then they all will wait.

It's gonna be a long wait for Thunderbolts, but I'm more genuinely excited for this than anything since MoM and NWH. I was mostly worried about Guardians 3 having a sad ending but I think it turned out to be my fave of the 3 - but I'm a sucker for Rocket.

In this case though I really don't think any of the events of Cap4 (at least not in a major sense) is going to be required for Thunderbolts. Even if I would say watch it anyways just because its a good watch in my opinion, but I don't think you're going to miss out if you decide to go see Thunderbolts in theaters without seeing Cap4 first.

It may not. But as a non-comic fan who watches the MCU, I'd assume there's a lot of overlap. Not going into the Cap 4 spoilers as to why, but I always assumed Ross has to have something to do with the Thunderbolts with his name. NOW, I've been told that is wrong, and they were around before he came into the picture. But I can see most casual fans assuming the same thing I did, and if you aren't on forums like this or have a big comic fan friend, you may not know it.

Except you're assuming that "casual" fans are actually going to know that Ross' nickname is Thunderbolt. Outside of a few minor appearances he hasn't even been a major part of the MCU. So unless they were paying attention to everything, meaning they aren't just a "casual" fan, or already saw Cap4, they likely won't even remember that little detail which isn't really mentioned much in the MCU in the first place.

At this point, how do you know how it is going to at the box office? Honestly, it sounds like you have already written off the movie even though it hasn’t released.

I just listed why I think it's not going to do good. What more do you want?

This doesn't even have a Harrison Ford caliber star in it. And you've seen how bad Captain Falcon has done. No one is saying I need to see the new Florence Pugh movie.

And for any smart alecks.

Yessss... Harrison Ford isn't a A-Level star anymore. He's at Robert Deniro's level. A 2nd or 3rd star in a Theater movie or a 1st star in a Streaming movie or show.

He’s Captain America whether you like it or not.

I don't know as I haven't seen it, like many people. But we all know these movies are connected in some way. And they are also more enjoyable when you notice the connections, even if they are very subtle and minor to the main story.
The problem is with this multiverse thing, no one knows for sure what the real connecting story is anymore. It use to be about Kang the Conquer and the variants but Marvel killed that idea so there is no connecting story anymore. Now it's like it was Dr. Doom all the time? The Infinity Saga made sense but ever since Wandavision nothing does anymore.

I am…. She is one of my favorite actresses…I am not the biggest marvel fan in the world…. I have seen most of them(not all)because I see a lot of movies….I think you could be surprised… she could bring some audience in who are not Marvel’s core fan base….it’s also the reason I think the absolute cinema trailer was pure marketing brilliance

Current rumors are the Kang story line might not be as dead as some think, so there still might be an overarching story thread between all these movies, involving both Kang and Doom.

It's like the sequel trilogy. They kind of had a plan at the beginning. Then it got torn to shreds by Johnson. Then they had to come up with a plan to make it work to save face. None of the multiverse stuff makes any sense in the already released movies. There is no story there.

What did BNW and now the Thunderbolts* have to do with Kang/Doom? I think they are just more red shirts for the Big Bad to take down.

I don't think its like the SW sequel trilogy at all. As they still had a single vision for this Saga even if it had to change or get altered due to forces outside of their control.

And what did Cap:Winter Soldier have to do with Thanos?

Not every MCU movie was directly related to taking down the "big bad".
