Marvel coming to WDW?!?!

Unfortunately, Club 33 is likely coming to WDW at some point, and probably in the not too distant future. From what I heard, TDO recently (in the past couple of months) held an event for current Golden Oak residents where they asked for opinions on opening a Club 33 at WDW. Apparently a bunch of people were in favor of it, so I would take that to mean that TDO is either definitely moving forward with a WDW Club 33, or is at least strongly considering it, especially when they bought the club33disneyworld.com domain a couple of years ago.

Just think just like DVC but with no requirement to actually DO anything just take those sweet five figure initiation fees and annual membership fees and put in a too small dining facility and you are golden oh and comp a few park tickets (on the days when a member actually scores a reservation) what's NOT for TDO to like plus the Orlando executives will finally have a dining facility worthy of their exalted stature. Perhaps they can call it 'The Money Club'

As I recall that was still during the Eisner era when they actually understood synergy and it's proper application.

Blame Atlantis: The Lost Empire. They had characters ready and were already in the planning stages of an attraction when the movie didn't quite live up to expectations (admittedly, it was up against some tough competition that year; the kids were drawn to Shrek, while the teenage males who were probably the target audience were drawn to Tomb Raider instead).

Atlantis suffered more from bad timing than being a bad movie, James Garner being the villian was inspired, I rather liked 'The Mole'

Oh, it's a great movie; I still quote Cookie's "four food groups" line. I think the thing that really hurts it, again aside from the timing, is just how atypical it is from the Disney canon, and this is during a period when WDAS was releasing some very atypical films, like The Emperor's New Groove or Lilo & Stitch.

1. Can the popular Marvel characters be used in an area like Disney Springs for meet and greets? (Hulk, Captain America, Iron Man and so on)
2. With all of the characters in the Marvel universe, why can't Disney research a character that isn't within the Universal contract and develop movies/theme park attractions. There has to be some pretty cool characters that are out there if Disney would let people be creative.

And you know a hundred years ago, it was all, "The kids these days are spoiled, what with their fancy telegrams and getting news in less than a week! In my day, you had to get on a horse and ride for six days if'n you wanted to let someone know how you were doing. And back then, we knew the value of a dollar! Because a dollar was the average yearly salary."

There is a dedicated Marvel store in Disney Springs so I would say yes.

Wasn't it supposed to be a Submarine Voyage retheme?

I believe so. But, they'd still spent some time and money on the pre-design phase, and that wound up being for nothing. And considering the other movies of the 2000-2006 period aren't really considered classics (with the exception of Stitch), one can't blame them for being gun-shy when it comes to approving stuff to tie-in to the parks, at least when Frozen debuted. Now that we've had a level of consistency, with the past four WDAS releases being unquestionable successes (and I fully expect Moana, Gigantic, and Frozen 2 to follow that trend), maybe we'll see a change in that.

1. Probably Not.
2. Absolutely. And Iger has said they intend to mine the 1000's of characters of Marvel. Plus they can always invent new ones for future generations.

You'll notice they're already going with characters that most non-nerds have never heard of. Guardians, Doctor Strange, Ant-Man, Black Panther, Inhumans, Captain Marvel... And that's only if they stick to the superhero side of things. If they ever decide to delve into Marvel's western, horror, or (God help us) romance comics, that's a huge well to plumb from (and it still makes Marvel viable if the superhero bubble ever bursts).

How about delving into this comic for a film?
