I won't have time this week. I was going to go today, but my car broke down and I had to put it in the shop. But next week it looks like I'll be able to make it up. I can't wait to see these steel track supports from the air.

Roads? Where you're going...you don't NEED roads...

Sorry, I had to.

Does anybody else think it's odd that when you're standing in the FLE...you look left and it's snowy...you look right and it's a tropical"esque" setting?

Hey Scuttle,

When you do go up, if you can get over to Animal Kingdom and see if there is any site work going on backstage over there. Also, the new path that they are building if you can. Any pics you bring will be most appreciated. I love seeing your update.

I took AK pics Feb. 9th and there was nothing going, but we will see. If I have time I'll swing through AK, but as always my focus will be on the MK area and Fantasyland.

You rock! If there is nothing going on at AK, then no use taking pictures. Thanks again for sharing your pictures, we truly appreciate them.

If that track is going to be in the mountain then it looks like the edge of the mountain is going to be really close to the path, they should make it into a climing wall.

Judging by all the models this would be the tallest part of the mountain.

Hey Scuttle - Take a picture of your plane too ;-) I love seeing your updates/pictures... Where do you fly out from? Herndon/Orlando Exec?

I'm guessing the mine train mountain will obscure/break up the view. Maybe hide Beast's Castle from the one side near Winnie the Pooh ride, then hide Prince Eric's Castle from the other side near the carousel. However I think it will be a little odd to be standing in front of the Little Mermaid and see the FL forest looking area laid out in front.

Overall I'm sure the Imagineers have figured out sight lines "standing" in a 3D virtual model....

I don't own a plane. I wish I did! My good friend has a mooney m20 and we take that up a lot, but I'm currently working on my licenses instrument/commercial/CFI, so I always take shots on my lessons. Yes I fly out of KORL (executive). But I'll take pictures of the Mooney for you. It's a great plane. Glad you like the updates. It's truly amazing flying above WDW and seeing all the undeveloped land. The satellite imagery doesn't do it justice.

Hey Scuttle,

I too want to thank you for all the beautiful pictures. Aviation fuel can't be cheap, so again thanks a million!! :sohappy:

I was always under the impression that there was some kind of "no fly" zone around WDW. Are there any rules for flying in/and or around WDW? Just interested. Keep those pictures coming!!

Is the Mine Train coster going to be mostly geared to youngsters? Is this something that the teens are going to enjoy?

Both it seems. The coaster won't wow you with it's stats(height, speed). It won't be a teens favorite ride. But from the projected layouts I've seen, it has a good number of S turns. Those will get the cars swinging and I think that will make the ride more exciting then the layout indicates.

Yes there is a TFR (temporary flight restriction) around MK. Which means we have to stay above 3,000 feet and out of a 3 mile radius of the MK unless we get clearance from ATC. Which isn't hard they won't let you do any loitering in the TFR, but they usually will let you fly straight through. Last time I went for pictures ATC actually busted us loitering too much and told us to leave the airspace, but it's not a big deal. ATC knows people go up for pics and are usually pretty lenient about it.

I think they definitely have two years to go on the coaster mountain. Look how long it is taking for the rocks to go around Mermaid. And the coaster mountain is going to be seen from all sides. They probably want to get as much of the exterior done first so it will "blend in" better with the surroundings. Still the track has to be layed and interior show scenes done.

The reason it takes so long for BatB, TLM and SBC to be finished is the distribution of manpower while waiting for all the permits to clear. I believe that once most of the FLE is finished and open to the public in late November they will be able to put twice as much effort in finishing SDMT and be done before summer '13.
