Yes, but Disney is not the people making the kids cry because their attractions.
No, sometimes they are crying because of the characters. So should the characters be removed then too?

The Haunted Mansion is fine as is and is appropriate for whomever wants to ride a haunted ride. No parts need to be removed due to oversensitivity. The park was made for both adults and children. If something is too adult for a child to see, then don't take them on the ride. Adults with children aren't the only adults who go to WDW. There always should be something for everyone.

Everyone thinks their child is the most specialist. Everyone. However if we took out every ride that a child didn't like, the park would be an empty lot. You should have had a clue by the name Haunted Mansion. Your fault on this one, not Disney's. Maybe avoid rides that may frighten your child instead of trying to cater the park to her and her alone. And ruin it for everyone else in the process.

Have you never heard the saying " Prepare your child for the path, not the path for your child"? Meaning give your child the skills to handle things, trying to smooth every bump does them no favors.

Dude the world is changing weather you like it or not. The ride most likely will be changed in the future because people will complain to Disney that the ride is to scary. My older brother was scared as crap so he never went on again. I'm not saying the ride has to go. I'm just saying the person hanging should go.
this guy really has to be a troll.
I mean.. a haunted mansion ride that needs to be changed to be "less" scary because of a very young kid going there?
That is not "world changing". That is just dumb "think of the children" excuse.

So sorry, but it is called "The Haunted Mansion" o_O If that's your mindset, why allow your kids to watch Disney movies at all? Each one has some scene that was dark, scary and even showcased death. I don't think that a fun, scary moment for 98% of guests should be changed or removed because of a scared child. When I took my nephew, I made sure to do my research before we got there just so there were no surprises. Hopefully the little one has no emotional scars, who knows maybe she'll have forgotten all about it in six months:)

THIS!!!!

Every Disney movie has some sort of downfall or loss... Hell, in UP and Finding Nemo, you're in tears within the first 10 minutes of the movie...

Oh yeah... and if anyone remembers what was said at D23 this year...

PIXAR IS GOING TO HIT YOU IN THE FEELS HARDER GOING FORWARD....

Heaven help all the poor little kids who will become sad or scared...

Heff with his "Dude" and Fairest with her "Hun". And the children, my God, the crying children who need shielding from everything, and the changing world......this is just getting too weird. I think I'll skip this troll booth and get off at the next exit.

LOL... Just saw the next trailer for the live action Jungle Book... Better not take little kids.... they might get scared and then we'll have to close down all the zoos... As well as destroy all stuffed animals... Don't need a Tigger trigger...

Here's a couple of examples:

One time in kindergarten someone told me there was a giant bird that would come get children and take them away. For weeks, I plotted where I would hide in my house. I'll never forget that. Another time, I caught snippets of that movie "Omen" that my mom was watching. To this day, I am still scared of the devil...
Some things are worth being scared of.

We recently returned from a 11 day Disney trip March 4 - 14. Exhausting but worth every minute of it. yet there are a few things I noticed and am concerned about, mainly the Haunted Mansion stretch room toward the beginning of the attraction. This was the first trip for our only daughter faire age 5. We thought this would be a good age for her first visit as it would be when she would be old enough to remember alot of the magic yet young enough to believe in the magic. One thing that really got her upset and in tears was the opening scene to Haunted Mansion at MagicKingdom. We never expected there would be a few moments of total darkness plus the lightning and scream nearly sent her into a fit. Disney is a place for families with children!!!!! I was appalled at how no cast member told us we probably should not take her into that scene. We spoke to a cast member at the ride exit who smiled to cheer her up, but still that beginning scene needs to either be changed or removed if disney is going to market as a family park for children. The rest of the ride is amazing, as our little princess faire could sit close to mommy and daddy if scared and there was no pitch black darkness. The music was fun and the characters inside the ride were more appropriate for children during most of the scenes. The beginning however really disturbed her and made her not wanting to ride too much more that day as she was still in shock of the total darkness. The majority of our vacation was great besides that one moment of terror in my daughters eyes. Please consider an update or change in the stretch room, maybe just to remove the total darkness to take into consideration the emotions and vulnerability of the child. When older she will learn to appreciate the ride for what it is as a classic.
Shhhhhhhhhh....... its okay, it will be alright.

Heck, it scared the crap out of me when I was 5. I grew up and becamev an engineer/mba, married, procreated, and supporting said family.

Shhhhhhhh, it's okay, it will be all righr.

Or you could buy your child some Mickey's Stress Cards for Children.

Yeah, and speaking of Nemo, and how the "world changes"...anyone remember the first 10 minutes of that movie?? I think that movie had my kids freaked more than the HM!:p Here's my thought...most kids are growing up very desensitized with the movies that are being produced, video games they play, toys they have to play with, etc. But when you compare this to how things were when Walt and the Imagineers developed the HM, it's night and day! The children back in Walt's day actually were more likely to be scared going to the HM compared to what they dealt with in day-to-day life, but I'm sure they all grew up without neuroses about the dark, etc. You can't sit and complain that WDW needs to make all their rides appropriate for children while when you look at Disney movies, they are ripe with death, murder, evil. etc.
And to address the point that the OP keeps stating, that it's the stretch room that needs changing because that's the part that is too "scary" and "the ride part should never be changed because that's an amazing experience and story...no concern or complaint with the actual ride." Well guess what Princess Fairy, that's the part my child was scared of!! But because it was your myopic experience that your child was scared in the stretch room, then Disney must change it and because there was not an issue with the ride portion, well then...that part is fine. Please stop and just get over it! Kids may or may not have issues with the HM and its OUR job as parents to decide whether we will take them on this ride or not. It is NOT Disney's job--they're there to ensure revenue for entertainment and to ensure their rides are safe (hence height requirements). But the day that Disney starts changing classics because, heaven forbid, a parent can't do their job and they must step in and make it "child appropriate", will be the day I boycott all-things Disney.
