Making the TTA (WEDway) Major League

To all,
I found a resource of Disney Park 3d models in sketch-up. One creator goes by Pimpin Pimpin. He seems to have most major structures modeled including new stuff like Guardians and Tron. There are several other model creators with good Disney files available. I am going to try and re-create a full WDW map with as many fully modeled buildings as possible at least in the parks. I will try and create a matching library of files to go with it. If I pull it off I will make all the models and master sketch-up WDW file available to anyone who asks. This should make it easier to make new and better parks having proper scale and correctly proportioned models to use in our creations. Several of the models in this picture are complete with ride interiors. It will take me quite a while to sort arrange and re-scale everything to match. I will post progress in a different thread in the future. Right now I am still concentrating on the TTA (Major League) project. See below for the zoomed out view of what I have collected so far. For those that want to know, I am doing this on my retirement present to myself. A home built monster gaming computer with all the bells and whistles (2 RX560 4GB cards, I7, 4SSD drives). And I haven't played one minute of gaming since I started this project.

Wow that is impressive! @Voxel
Those are some nice specks, I'm assuming the SSDs are in some type of raid setup for having that many..

Sorry I could nerd out on tech specs.

I'm sorry I haven't reviewed entire concept, I've been working 11/12 hours a day on top of language lessons, vacation planning, and moving my mom. I hope to get to it this weekend. I love many aspects of this concept but have a concern or two.

On the SSD's 2 are Raid the other 2 are just plug and play as I move them to other machines, my music drive and video drive. Raid 0 was all I could get to work properly.

Please fire away on the critiques, projects only get better when flaws are fixed and mitigated.

Nice, I'm slightly jealous of the Desktop Raid setup though I'm happy with my M.2. drive, (just with it was bigger). Ahh plug and play SSD? Do you mostly roam locally with those or take them on travel. If it is just local I highly recommend a home server of sorts. I run a unraid server with Plex, Gitea (Light wait Github basically), and a personal web sever for test, but it also serves as a 14TB of parity storage. I found dumping to my server and loading from other devices to be quicker than the migration of disk drives. (Sorry I did warn I like tech talks)

I think my biggest concern was sight lights, how to make it blend in with the natural scenery of the park and not be an eyesore for multiple attractions. This is something you might handle in the plan, I just haven't read far enough yet :(

My primary concern are sight lines also. Whenever possible putting the TTA out of sight, peering through trees, from behind facades and such. I won't let the TTA disrupt the theme in any section of the park any more than absolutely necessary. My skill with sketch-up is very limited and terrain elevation is a weak spot inside my limited knowledge.

Right now I'm having a problem creating the small downhill elevation change from the west side of HM to the Rivers of America. View attachment 268824
Take a look at the Terrain Tool in sketchup. I didn't know it existed for the longest time, but after finding it it really makes a difference when your trying to show terrain.

I love making sketchup models of the park but I tend to put too much detail in it, lol.

Same here, I used to do it pen and paper style (trained draftsman from the 80's and early Autocad) Now I can do so much more and copy it so quickly. I will find the terrain tool. Thanks for the info.

My end goal is to create a grid layout for all WDW terrain fully rendered with vegetation, each grid section 250 X 250ft, numbered and lettered to allow for easy joining and alignment. Each grid will have a sub layer showing the blueprint for whatever building is supposed to be there, this will allow for easy placement of buildings to their correct locations. Then have all the buildings separately modeled and rendered. Build a catalog with every building sorted by park. Including every Disney park globally. Then when done you can drop any building onto any plot of land in WDW and build park variations quickly so you can see how any newly created ride or attraction building will fit with the existing stuff.

I can't wait to see how this works out, I think sketchup is a powerful tool that get's under utilizing and lately I've been doing 60 minute challenges in an attempt to create ride vehicles. (@spacemt354 can attest to that consider I've bugged him enough for opinions). I think the catelog ideal will be amazing also and if you want help populating it let me know, I don't mind assisting with the modeling process if there are new ones to create.

2017 Desktop mostly but I have used the browser version as of yesterday.
Perfect, so when I get home tonight I'll send you a list of sketchup tools that are extremely helpful. Some help with creating low poly models which is amazing for trees, plus other neat and hand features. The plugins that exist for sketchup up are a big plus.

This is actually a really great idea. Well thought out and presented. Unfortunately, I see the likelihood of Disney doing it, on par with
them extending the monorail to other parks. (now a gondola project)
Ah.....But they haven't seen what I will show them about the monorails......I bet I convince even the most die-hard agianst the monorails on these boards that there is a way to do it with a budget that Disney would be willing to pay for. But that project will have to wait until I finish the TTA. I'm just using the TTA to primer my skills for the big project of the MONORAIL REVIVAL!!!! (it will get rid of every fossil fueled bus on property).

So curious about your mobility projects.
Hope you think something to USF too. With the 3rd gate on the way (rumors), they are going to need some help moving guests through Orlando.

Light rail (not sure if true light rail or MagLev) is the current proposal for UNI, and if the rumors are true (on my end of things) the new MCO Transportation hub has a spot designated for it. But's to early to know what will happen. Disney's master plan once called for a High Speed rail station near Downtown Disney, however economic changes and the failure of the state to build the system lead Disney to take it off their master plan.
