Major WDW Withdrawal Help

Just came back from WDW last Thurs...and I've been so depressed ever since that I seriously don't know what to do with myself.

Leaving gets harder and harder every friggin' time...almost makes me wonder if I shouldn't stop going. It always makes me think of how I was supposed to move down to WDW after graduation...and how all the plans fell apart.

Any tips on how to cope? I know it's random...but I could use the help.

Go to mousebits.com and down load some park audi and videos, Iusually go to sleep each night listening to Horizons, or Jermey Irons SSE.

Start Planning your next trip you dont have to book It helps me just to plan>

I do the same thing--search the net for videos, listen to WDW music and plan hundreds of trips that I don't take. It may sound silly, but it helps me to feel like I'm still there! Sometimes we re-create our favorite meals (our top pick: Sci-Fi night with a 50s sci-fi movie, chili and hamburgers!).

I feel your pain. I don't get to go very often. My trips are never long enough. And I feel a bit empty on my return. Part of it is that being at WDW is so NOT like the real world. It's beautiful everywhere you look. People are friendly. People actually DO their jobs well. I'll repeat that one. PEOPLE DO THEIR JOBS WELL. I get home and am surrounded by people who don't do their jobs well, or at all. I find rudeness and ugliness. No wonder I feel empty. WDW feels to me they way it should be everyday, everywhere. And I'm not even talking about the fun stuff. So, what to do?

The web's a great place to remember the good times, as is lsitening to the music and watching videos. But, for me, I want something a bit more REAL.

So I get recipes of some of my favorite foods from WDW and I cook them. I decorate the table a bit like Disney. I theme playdates, and parties and dinners. I take walks where it IS pretty. I garden in my yard and pretend I'm landscaping at Disney. In short I try to use what I've experienced at WDW in my own life. That way it's always with me. And if you look, you can find some nice themed entertainment wherever you live.

Good luck!

I TOTALLY understand...happens every time! But don't stop going because of that!
It helps me to plan the next trip, look at pictures we took, listen to Disney music, watch videos, and to keep up with WDWMagic :)

See the thread I started with me convincing my wife to go back to Disney. The only way to get over the depression of coming home is to plan another trip.

I feel the same exact way when I leave. I downloaded every song from every ride I could find. I have the whole Wishes song, Splash Mountain, Space Mountain, Journey into Imagination, Spectromagic, and man many others. I just put those songs on repeat and close my eyes!!! I gave in and am buying an annual pass to WDW. I only live 3hrs away so I feel like I will use it every weekend!! I hate going out to eat after I get back from WDW because I was so use to the staff and servers at WDW being so nice and caring and fullfilling of my needs, to some young pimple faced putz not caring about what you need!!! Its almost like you find yourself looking down on everything outside of Disney!! I know that sounds mean but that's how I feel!!!

Ah yes, the Post-Disney Depression.

There really is nothing like the great feeling you get when you check in and walk in your resort the first day.......or the terrible feeling you get when you check out and drive away on that last day.

Thanks for all of the tips! I'm still feeling sort of blue...(probably the longest time it's taken me to snap out of it)...but I appreciate everything from you all. You guys are the best. :slurp:

I know how you feel. I got home saturday and am shocked by how depressed I am. I haven't been this depressed since I returned from my College Program or the Spring Break right after.

I'm moving down in August but getting through the next few months is going to be really hard. I think the main thing is that I really don't like my school. Being at my parent's isn't bad cause most of my friends are there but here on campus just sucks. only 53 days till graduation! Hopefully it won't take that long for me to get out of this.

I'm going to DL in June so hopefully planning that will help.

it's crazy, but our first trip was in 1997, I pretty much fought with my wife tooth and nail not to go, money of course. But now after 19 visits, I can't see myself not going. After the first 2 trips I started to video them, so if I go thru withdrawls I pop one of them in and see my sons as they were younger and amazed by everything there, and it goes away, briefly, but still it takes care of that depressed feeling.

Here are things I do to cope:

1. Even if you haven't officially set a date for your next visit, put a trip countdown widget on your computer Desktop with the approximate number of days as a starting point. There are plenty of such widgets out there, for Windows or Mac -- do a Google search. I have an official WDW one on my Mac at home, and a generic countdown on my Windows Vista machine at work. Right now, I can see I have 256 days to go!

2. Go to YouTube and watch ride videos. Better yet, go to EyesOnEars.com, where there is usually a live feed from one of the resort hotels, or if you're lucky, from inside a park! It's run completely by fans who volunteer their vacation time to boradcast.

3. Get the latest free Disney Planning video.

4. Go to mousebits.com and download some ride audio and video.

5. Make a scrapbook of your recent trip -- put in GuideMaps, Times Guides, photos, parking passes, anything you have lying around from your trip. Admittedly, I have yet to do this -- perhaps when there's just a few months to go and I'm really jonesing.

Hope this helps!

well living an hour away, if i got to sever depression i'd just take a little trip north..... but school doesn't always allow

so what i do is

1. go on google earth (free) and go through the 3d walk throughs of all of WDW

2. Come on here for hours on end

3. edit all my hundreds of pictures i took during the trip just so i can post them up here for all you guys to see
