Dorian now predicted to strengthen into a hurricane Thursday night, current projected path puts it ashore around Daytona Beach.

Best to keep apprised of the progress of the storm (not via the Weather Channel). Too early yet to determine where and when it will hit.

And if you arrive as planned and the storm arrives 24-36 hours later, you're in a good place. As I stated earlier, many of us in Florida now look at WDW as a place to evacuate to.
I'm coming in Friday early AM, driving down from Delaware. Hoping to get as much in Fri and Sat as I can before this thing comes. Of course the track changes 100 times a day, but this is reassuring, thanks! I am actually looking forward to possibly being in a tropical storm while at WDW. (Though I hope it's not a hurricane...I don't want the parks to close!)

If it makes landfall Sunday evening, it will be very wet and windy Sunday afternoon, depending on how far out hurricane/tropical storm winds extend from the eye. I'd be prepared to spend Sunday evening through Monday AM in my resort room, if current predictions hold. I don't know what Disney's policy is, but you really don't want to be out in sustained winds of 50-60 mph...or higher.

Hopefully (but sad for Puerto Rico) the islands Dorian will encounter before it approaches the Florida East Coast will diminish its size and strength.

Yup, if it has to hit Central FL, this would be ideal for me. As long as I can get back on the road by noon on Monday...fingers crossed it doesn't wreak havoc up and down the east coast! It's really amazing how the trajectory changes on a nearly hourly basis. Exciting too, in a way!

Unless it's a Cat 5 storm headed your way. 😉

That's why we really don't pay attention until about 24 hours out.

Question from someone who's never had to deal with a hurricane before...

Flying in from the UK on Sunday 1st September and due to land at 1535, I'm assuming that flight is likely to be disrupted based on the current forecast. So if given the option to fly in the day before on the Saturday arriving the same time I believe this is less likely to be affected?

Based on this chart Sunday looks iffy but you'd be alright arriving Saturday.

So its a possible Cat 2 at landfall, early Monday morning now (2AM ish), so its slowed down a bit but this has gotten a bit more serious. As much as I love Uni and Orlando as a whole, the traffic in and around that area as people leave the state and come back after will be brutal.

And the earlier in the day, the better.

It’s obvious the game will be cancelled in Jax. But don’t think it should be moved to Doak either. Cancel it altogether and free up rooms for evacuees. Forecast to hit as Cat 2 now but who knows? Michael is fresh in our memories.

We are also in the "cone of possibilities".

We are supposed to be leaving WDW Sunday morning heading up 75 North, we should beat the storm getting out of town, but should we expect massive delays on the highway? Wondering if we should maybe head out Saturday night instead...

Yes, if you are traveling north on 75 on Sunday, all I can say is good luck, the whole central and northeast parts of FL will be evacuating depending on where this thing ends up landing.

If the state declares an emergency and orders evacuations, all 6 lanes of I-75 will become northbound. I imagine the same for the Turnpike.
