It's possible. The Governor's Emergency Declaration gives DOT full authority to determine if that is needed. Driving between Jacksonville and Tallahassee on I-10, you'll see "Emergency Evacuation Route" signs posted for westbound traffic (facing east) on both east and westbound lanes. Just past the I-10 / I-75 intersection, there is an empty lane that provides for contraflow traffic in the eastbound lanes to re-enter the westbound lanes.

So that's what that lane is for.

If only there was a way to go around Hotlanta (one of my profs called it that - he visited regularly to pick up college girls) driving north....

Love visiting, hate driving through it.
Weve been to Atlanta once to visit the aquarium.. For us its easier to go down 65 till it splits off for mobile, then catch a secondary highway and enter florida that way vs heading twords atlanta. about 30 extra miles to the trip, depending on traffic, quicker, and i dont have to hear the complaining about atlanta.

Its a nice route. We live about an hour south of Nashville itself> between Huntsville and Nashville exactly. SO for us, its easier to go he 3 miles out to 65, then take all the back roads to get to I40 in Manchester, and out through Chattanooga etc. We did it last march for my birthday, and it skirts all large cities, and well theres a whataburger you can see from the interstate in Birmingham, so that sealed the deal.

I had plans to fly into MCO Saturday morning 6AM and depart MCO Monday at 6PM. Should I cancel? Defiantly don’t want to be stuck in the resort and can’t take more days off of work if there are airport delays/closures on Monday.

The storm is projected to hit Monday. If you can't extend your time off work past that, then you'll need to cancel.

Monday at 6pm might be risky. If the current track holds or stays 50 miles North or South, I think the Airport will be closed at 5pm or earlier. For Irma they closed at 5pm on the 9th, and did not open until the 12th.
