Not doubting you at all, Aly San San, but I'm actually impressed that they would pour concrete with, what I assume, is a plan to just rip it out again and add new planters. Or will the planters sit atop the concrete, just wondering how the irrigation, and I assume lighting and other electrical would get into the planters? It shouldn't be more than two-three months (Of Course in Disney Time that could mean 6), the new planters will look much better than the old planters.
I'm assuming they'll have the area open for guests while OTHER parts of the hub are closed up... and once those are open, these temporary blocks will go away? It's important to note that this new red concrete is only temporary.
They pour concrete just to rip it out again all of the time during these projects. It's been done in several other areas around the hub during this project, all over disney springs, and was even done recently in Frontierland where they were replacing wood near the river. Not doubting you at all, Aly San San, but I'm actually impressed that they would pour concrete with, what I assume, is a plan to just rip it out again and add new planters. I'm there Monday if no one gets there sooner. They installed quite a few well grown trees on the Crystal Palace side this week. Anyone heading out there that can snag a photo?
You can send them over to me if able, and I'll post them for yaI have some photos from over the wall on the Crystal Palace side that were taken Wednesday afternoon but for some reason I am unable to upload them here on the site....any ideas? just keeps saying "there was a problem uploading your file"
It's crazy to think such beautiful (and large) trees once occupied that space. As of 01/30/2015:

It even obviously looks like a mat to temporarily cover something like a throw rug over a carpet stain. Mountains out of Molehills again.I assume this is just to provide more walking space for traffic flow when more walls go up to continue the hub expansion.
It all should be replaced to match what is going in currently. When you say temporary....do you mean that the existing red concrete will be dyed or painted the anticipated brown we see in the mockups? or will it all be removed again---and replaced with a brown concrete?
Yup. Final should all be real.Once the project is complete there will be no more viewing on the grass eliminating the need for the fake grass that was discussed for the Rose Garden. I haven't heard anything about using anything but real grass.
I honestly don't think more than one of those guys knows* how to properly fell a tree. (* without using the wiki)Plus, they hired a bunch of professional tree murderers in Canada. Makes you think, doesn't it?
