Thank you! Me too. I only hope that Disney restores some of the green, landscaped feel of the hub after all the concrete goes in. Granted, perhaps much of it will be in planters. I also hope that they put benches around them... But I think we all know how that'll pan out.

Definitely! I love the landscaping as it was. It made the park - a park! Not a concrete cattle ranch. One of my favorite spots were the Nessy bushes. I wonder if Mickey and Minnie will still be around? I'm thinking they're already gone - for good.

More greenery for posterity...

I agree - it's lovely.

The plans that were leaked a while back clearly show "artificial grass" in the FastPass+ fireworks viewing areas. I'm not sure what the plan is for these areas during the day, but my guess is that they will look like lawn/garden areas that then people stand on for the fireworks (probably not accessible during the day). There's no feasible way to have people stand every night on real grass without it looking horrible. Plus, there are lots of very realistic artificial grass products on the market now. Besides, the majority of the landscaping on top of Mine Train is fake and it looks beautiful! I think if the fireworks viewing areas are necessary, this was probably the best way to accomplish it.

Having been in there several times to watch Wishes, the Rose Garden has real lawn. And I hope it remains that way.

I believe the landscaping on the 7DMT is a mixture of both, judging by the dried out look of some of the vegetation...which can only be attributed to living and not regularly watered plant material.

Believe it or not, grass is difficult to keep in Florida. It needs lots of irrigation, fertilizer, insect control, disease control. I spend a lot of $$ just to maintain my little lot.

That depends on the variety of grass - my property is mainly the weed variety and whatever natural grass was going when the lot was built on. I spend very little on my "lawn" - just human energy and the cost of gas for my mower. Way too much money, water and chemicals are wasted on maintaining that "perfect" lawn. There are varieties of grasses that will tolerate the heat and humidity of Central Florida, along with foot traffic.

No more Hub plants? More concrete to accommodate guests!

As of 01/29/2015:
The Partners Statue is still behind walls, as is 95% of the Hub- only sitting room for the parades is available. FP+ has been moved to Times Square. The 2 planter ares's in front of the Partners Statue have been removed and filed with a dark red concrete. The planters behind the statue closer to Cinderella's Castle are the same from the last update, and no visible progress has been made on them. The temporary show control booths have been finished and are ready to go! The current booths are now behind construction walls. The "bridge" facade on the East (Tomorrowland) side of Main Street was completed not too long ago. Water will soon be flowing soon :)

While my lawn is not "golf course" standard, I do try to keep it looking nice. I doubt that WDW would accept a standard of "weed variety" for their parks. The turf of choice in FL is one of a variety of St. Augustine...all of them require care and few, if any, will survive without said care. I could direct you to the this web site for info: http://edis.ifas.ufl.edu/lh010

I, by no means, intend to disparage anyone who grows turf (notice I didn't say "grass" :)) in any manner they choose. I just think that WDW would have a very high standard for their parks.

Thanks, I've lived in Florida for almost 50 years and am very familiar with the type of grasses people use for their lawns - Bermuda, Bahia and all the others. I was more commenting on the amount of time, money and chemicals people put on their lawns in Florida to have that "golf course" look. Which is a type of turf most folks wouldn't use for their yards.

I just prefer the more "natural" look - woodsy, no manicured lawns (except for the idiot down the street from me with the heavily shaded yard and manicured lawn - boy, he spends a lot of time and money there) - that fits my neighborhood and life style. Don't want to be a slave to my yard. :)
