Once the project is complete there will be no more viewing on the grass eliminating the need for the fake grass that was discussed for the Rose Garden. I haven't heard anything about using anything but real grass.

I thought there was fake grass/turf going into the non-paved areas of the Wishes viewing areas.

Feels like it is all coming together, finally. I'll have to book an early breakfast at CP just to get to walk around it with fewer folks about.

A couple notes here...

The larger trees will be on the outer rings of the Hub if all goes according to plan. They can't be in the center of the Hub due to the castle projections.

The new design of the hardscape still didn't create enclaves for benches, so I don't know if we will even see new benches to replace all the ones that have been removed. If we do, they certainly won't be in the outer pathway around the Hub.

<snip>

Those new lights can do more than you think they can. I'm very excited for the new lighting design in the Hub, provided they actually program the lights to utilize everything they can do. It would so be like Disney to install expensive programmable lights and not use them. (Ahem, TTA Peoplemover!)

Yes, the trees are coming back :) Even if it is to the outer ring, I Love it.

I don't think we'll ever see benches back in the hub not just due to keeping the area open for walking and watching, but to keep people from standing on them, falling and then trying to pin their own internal issues on Disney.

I can't wait to see the lights in action... and I'll hold my breath here... hopefully the fountains are programmable too.

I thought that's what those were, but decided instead to believe they were just construction equipment marks so I wouldn't be so sad. :)

A couple notes here...

The design intent is to remove almost everything that is "liberty green" in color from the Main Entrance through Main Street all the way to the Hub. The budget isn't there to do everything they want, like the Monorail station rehab, but you'll see it in a lot more places than just the Hub.

That brownish color with brass railings is the replacement. Essentially, they are taking the logic of replacing the old green trash cans with the current brown ones and applying it to everything else they can.

The red concrete will be replaced in the Hub with the new brownish stuff everywhere that is currently red. It's also supposed to be replaced on Main Street eventually, but not in the current project. Heck, they keep replacing the stuff on Main Street with different mixes of colors and smoothness, so it's hard to tell what they will do there, even with a budget in the future. For now though, they are sticking with what they have.

That's all for now.
I just got back on jan 28th from 7 nights in wdw & I noticed all the green to brown change over in the lights & railings etc..new stuff looks great!..Looks like they repainted all the MK bus stops green when they built the new ones....too bad they didn't think far enough ahead to just tie everything in with the brown color....probably in due time though. The new railings look great & are much taller, which is great considering I watched some "swell fella" hop the fence & trample flowers in the hub to take a picture while yelling at his friend to do the same for the picture....I was mortified & I yelled at him about how it was disrespectful & that "YOU DONT DO THAT HERE"....then a couple days later that spot was removed anyhow....but still....people obviously don't realize the fence means STAY OUT.

Just curious as to how long some people expect the horticulture aspect of this transformation to take? Is that a relatively short amount of time compared to everything else?

Thank you for sharing.

Your pics are excellent, and amazing in that they've caught some details others haven't such as the rare and elusive MK hub construction workers. :) Good to see them thriving, even if all they have to eat are the left over corn dogs people toss over the fence from Casey's.
