Saw a photo on another website with people laying on the grass. This is a bad look. Period.

EDIT - Here's a fine example:

I know I'm bringing the undercurrent of trees to the surface here again, but what Sage said above popped a memory into my head from when I was young: A neighboring town to the one I grew up in would always light their town common at Christmas in the most gorgeous lights. They didn't do anything fancy other than string the giant old oaks with white, green, and red. It was the most magical place in the world when I was small. When we visited Disney for the first time, I distinctly recall large trees strung with lights. The small ones were pocket-pretty, but it's the big ones I could sit under and not move for half a century and be happy.

I hope Disney finds a way to restore this feeling to the Magic Kingdom. The hub as it is is starting to look like it's coming together, but it feels like an airfield.

Why? It's designed as a park like setting. People lie down in parks and chill.

Chilling out in the MK is a good thing. Too many people running around, worried about their FP+ times as it is.

Maybe it's the fake grass? Maybe it's the adjacent to concrete? I don't feel the "park" setting. Feels more like people just laying on the floor. Maybe it's just me.

I think it's because it's something new to see. People laying down and actually relaxing, enjoying the park. I can't stress how nice it was to have that entire new area and be able to 'get away'.

I like that people can eat, relax, etc. I think it looks jarring because we haven't seen something like that, and they're not using blankets, they're just laying on the fake turf. I understand why it's not appealing to some but it's no different than going to the local park and having a picnic on the ground. I think it's just a matter of personal preference.

I'm curious why so many truly hate seeing people enjoying laying there though.

I don't see why those people sat on the grass enjoying the sun is any worse than those sat on the kerb waiting for the parade.

For me it's definitely something about the laying down - without a blanket. It just seems sloppy. Sitting on the curb is different. I can't explain why - but it definitely has a different feel.

To be honest, I feel like this picture was pulled right off of a University's website. Or better yet, I am from the St Louis area and we have a huge beautiful park that many locals take advantage of and this is the typical scene there, and yes there is concrete in the area as well. Its nice to see people actually relaxing instead of rushing around to get to the next ride, or Fastpass +, or ADR! I can't wait to be a vagrant on this in May!

To me the opposite is true. I associate the curbs in a business district with gum, dirt, cars and parking meters. I always hated the idea of sitting on the curb on main Street. A clean grassy area, however beckons for folk to pull out a Frisbee, sit and enjoy... and if someone happens to take a nap in the shade, be envious of their ability to relax so well in a public place. I know I can't.

I think in time we'll see those trees surrounding the backside of the FP+ areas fill in and they'll become a bit more welcoming than the carpeted area appearance they give now.
