dont get me wrong....i want to see MK the best it can be. Disney should let u know of things like this tho when your'e booking.
I don't know when you booked, but the hub refurb was announced about a year ago. I'll grant you that reservation booking agents are seldom in the loop when it comes to park operation, but there are other sources of info (like this website and others).

Yes it is.
The really bad news is the darn crane, when fully extended, towers over the castle by at least a third of the castle height. I had business that took me on Reams Rd this morning that runs just behind the MK and the top of the castle and the crane can be seen clearly.

The last I heard from a MK manager is that the east side FP viewing in front of the Crystal Palace is on schedule to open for guests Feb 27

Is this really all it takes to ruin your Disney experience? If it is then I can't imagine you have ever done a Disney trip when something didn't ruin it.
Perspective ;)

When I went to Disneyland and saw this it didn't upset me cause I knew it needed to be done. I'll see the castle next time when it's looking better :)

I am going next month and I kind of hope the tarps are still up. We have plenty of pictures in front of the castle and it would be amusing to have one in front of the tarps instead. (I would feel bad for other people who don't want a joke-castle-tarp picture though.)

In theory, yeah, it sucks that something is down and closed and not part of your "list of things that you did".... but I would think that the experience of being there, in the middle of the excitement, is pretty hard to quantify. We're all Disney fans. We all get THAT FEELING when walking into Disneyland/Magic Kingdom/EPCOT/Your Favorite Here. It's pretty hard to ruin that, despite what's closed/has a crane on it.

I heard the fountains shoot up like in the World of Color viewing area fountains ;)
That would be epic. Totally serious. Now I want more fountains.
