that 'backway out' needs to be a heavier construction, as it is a route for emergency vehicles and heavy equipment from the hub offstage. it takes more prep work for the higher weight pourings. deeper pours, more rbar and remesh....
Other places have built bridges faster than this bypass. Even given the ground being worked on.

Too many managers cars blocking the way...

There is no reason why the parks in Orlando couldn't be run the same way the parks in Anaheim are if the parks had more ability to share the capacity load. If you are not familiar with what is going on with the ramp up to the 60th Anniversary for DL, take a look at the Disneyland Resort forum. Currently, Sleeping Beauty Castle is behind a scrim, World of Color is offline, several rides and attractions are down and the world <pun intended> on the West Coast is still spinning.

For use as a particular barometer, tune into our very own Mike S's thread for his current 1st visit ever to DLR: http://forums.wdwmagic.com/threads/...y-world-fans-first-trip-to-disneyland.895564/

He's hitting DLR at its worst and let's watch what his impression of the place is when he runs into the perfect storm of refurbs. My guess, is that he will still come away with an outstanding time.

The situation in Orlando is such that if you pulled a similar load away from any of the parks, things would fall apart quickly because there isn't enough meat on the bone remaining.

That's a brilliant assessment.

I've been to the Disneyland Resort parks twice in the last few weeks, with gorgeous winter weather of sunny skies and 74 degrees, and the parks are very busy. But things are still manageable and people seemed to be having a great time. The excellent Frozen Fun offerings, a noticeable notch up on the quality scale than what DHS offered this past summer, helps.

But the list of current refurbishments in Anaheim would be apocalyptic if it happened in WDW, even spread across all four parks instead of just two sitting side by side. The list of current Disneyland Resort refurbishment closures, which includes five (5!) popular E Tickets, is:

Soarin' Over California (E Ticket)
Grizzly River Run (E Ticket)
Redwood Creek Challenge Trail
World of Color
Disneyland Railroad
Splash Mountain (E Ticket)
The Many Adventures of Winnie The Pooh
Davy Crockett Explorer Canoes
Matterhorn Bobsleds (E Ticket)
Peter Pan's Flight
It's A Small World (E Ticket)

Plus a gaggle of shops and restaurants closed for refurbishment around the parks.

Heck, there are two entire lands that are under such major construction and plussing up that they just walled them off entirely and closed off a chunk of each park; Condor Flats (becoming Grizzly Peak Airfield) and Critter Country (where Splash, Pooh and the Canoes are):

Condor Flats = Closed Until May

Critter Country = Closed Until April

I can't even fathom how this could/would happen at any two of WDW parks, even in the dead of winter with occasionally busy holiday weekends. The results would be catastrophic.

I thought Small World was reopening today but the facade is still behind a scrim?

I just checked and you're right, but it's scheduled to reopen tomorrow. Phew! I know we all are rooting for you over on the Disneyland forum, so at least there's another E Ticket back in the mix for your visit this weekend!

You'll just have to pretend you can see the famous Mary Blair façade behind the paint scrim. But once you get in a boat you'll enjoy the missing six minutes of ride time that was cut from the WDW version.

It'll reopen this weekend, it just normally doesn't look like this! :D

I'm not the best when it comes to tree types, but will the newly planted trees become more dense as time goes on?
I think so. it should be kind of like when they planted the trees at the tangled area.

(By the way......) does anyone have any current pix showing the new trees they planted last year in front of the Pinocchio restaurant?

Without getting in the semantics of what constitutes a ride or an attraction (lets just say that WDW's definition includes a lot more meet-and-greets), the easiest way to think of WDW's issues is like this.

Disneyland Resort has 2 parks with 2 parks worth of Disney caliber rides and attractions spread over 2 parks.

WDW has 4 parks with 2 parks worth of Disney caliber rides and attractions spread over 4 parks.

There is the problem in a nutshell.

DLR isn't perfect; but, it can handle crowds far better than WDW can in terms of actual capacity. Granted, their streets can still fill up just as bad and in Disneyland Parks case - even worse than any of the Florida parks; but, they do have more things for people to do.

And the scary thing is... they have less attendance than Florida.

All this time and only two of the six sections are being worked on? Seems that it is going to take years more before this is done.
Questions:
Are they taking out the four planters around Partners or is this just temporary? The video shows they are in.
Trolley not going to run any longer? I really hope that is not true.
It'll be done this year.

Saw on Twitter that some walls are down on the Adventureland side? It was super dark in the pictures so I couldn't tell exactly what walls were down.

Spot Mickey, I *think*, had some on Twitter of the walls down but again, the pictures were dark and you couldn't really see much.
