Main Street Bakery to Serve Starbucks Coffee

Dollars and cents. Not to mention the profit margin on coffee is off the chart. That's why I understand Dunkin Donuts is more about coffee now in their branding, same as McDonalds, realized the profit margins are grand.

#6 Price increase?

Two years ago, the cinnamon roll was $2.39 at the Bakery. Now, at the Gaston's up north near the Georgia border, they are $3.99.
They are slightly bigger though, but less tasty - which, come to think of it, can be said to be the trend of all of WDW's food in the past two decades or so.

You are not supossed to get a two dollar coffee with a two dollar snack anymore. No, Disney wants you to part with seven dollars for a coffee with a four dollar snack. There are more subtle ways to achieve a doubling of coffee break revenue than outright price increases.

Not if they want to keep their princess figures
I don't eat those rolls either. Nor do the Disney hipster Starbucks princesses!

Pretty much everything at WDW has a following, one way or another.

I've never eaten a MSUSA Cinnamon Roll, think the Turkey Legs taste horrible, consider the Dole Whip to be a waste of ice cream, and believe anyone who buys a Mickey Ice Cream Bar is getting totally ripped off.

Still, I'm sensitive enough not to insult people who like those dumb things.;)

What, no love for the French Toast Loaf???

Also, do they still sell frozen chocolate-covered bananas? Back in the 70s, those were just as iconic as the Dole Whip, can't recall seeing them in years. MK attendance does not seem to have suffered as a result.

I'm sorry Pof4, but I don't recall insulting anyone. If I did it was accidental. I was just saying that IF the CB's were not put back in the Bakery and IF Disney has moved them to a less accessible or "handy" location, my thoughts are that they aren't as big a seller as we have been lead to believe. Those that like them, like them, but in this case I'm thinking that there are a lot more that don't want any then there are that do. :)

Also, for the sake of information, I believe that I read that the CB's were not actually made in the M. S. Bakery, but were made in the central Bakery and shipped to the Bakery on Main Street where they were rewarmed and sold.

Although I don't think the Turkey legs taste horrible, I don't like my Turkey legs tasting like Ham, so I tried it once and have found no need to do it again. As for, Dole Whip's themselves I have to agree with you, but, add a batch of Pineapple Juice and make it a Dole Whip Float and I will fight you to the death to get one and pry it from your cold hands if necessary.:D Same with a Mickey Bar, rip off or not, it is something that is a must have everyday of my vacation, at least once.

Yes, they still sell the chocolate covered bananas. Maybe not the exact same as back then. Now, they are sold at the same carts as Mickey bars!

I've heard the same complaint from others about the reduction in quality of the rolls. That's ashamed. I think keeping the same quality would have buffered some of the issues over the change.

Plus the gooey frosting is different. They added maple flavoring. Bluck.

bah humbug...... I saw something that said the 6th but then no one has said they ate there so I figured still closed. I don't work in the park often and was hopeful !!
Last I saw posted was that it was supposed to open on the 15th. That's this coming Saturday. I haven't heard of any delays but then again very seldom does Disney put me on their "alert of changes" list. :p

That date has either changed or had different dates reported. I thought the last date I read was the 17th but I'm seeing multiple sites reporting June 18th. BUT you never know, they have been know for soft openings and may just open for full service or limited hours leading up to open date. I believe there's a CM that contributes to this thread who would probably have a more definitive answer.

Hope you have a great time!!!

I'm just excited they'll be accepting Starbucks Gift Cards! I'm a teacher, and this week I received $45 in Starbucks gift cards as end-of-the-year gifts, and I don't drink coffee! Now, I'll just put them aside until our WDW trip in Dec!

My mom works for LAUSD (Los Angeles Unified School District)... The best part about working for a school district are the gifts and goodies, especially during Christmas time.;)

Ha I'm the same way! I only started to drink coffee this school year because of the taste more than anything. But I always get Starbucks gift cards from students! I have a couple I need to use! Maybe in a few weeks at WDW :)

We start test meals on the 15th, 16th, and 17th. You must have a meal ticket in order to enter the bakery. The bakery will indeed on the 18th. There will be no delays. No matter what happens, we will open our doors on the 18th :)

I will be opening each of the days I mentioned above. It will be exciting!
