Well, just gonna throw a couple more (s)cents into the discussion...
I think that the issue is that none of us really ever like change. Especially when it's a change from what, for many of us, is such a terrific emotional experience. Face it, WDW has built us up for years by playing to our emotions...and they do that not through just interactive experiences (rides, characters, etc.), but by appealing to all of our senses. We all have memories of a great meal...most often it is due to the company we share it with. Put it all together, and you have the reason so many of us will spend so much of our income to experience it again and again at WDW...great times with family and friends, sharing the sights and smells and tastes and experiences that we have come to know and love through the years...and we want it to stay relatively the same each time we return. Do we want new experiences? Absolutely. But, as much as we do, we don't want the stuff that bears strong memories for us to change. And, that, IMHO, is why so many are so upset by the changes at the bakery.
We arrive for the rope drop, filled with anticipation of the excitement that is just inside the gates. Whether it's your first time, or your a seasoned veteran, there's a feeling that is often hard to describe when you turn the corner, facing the castle and take in Main Street USA. You want to run, and at the same time, you want everything to be in slow motion...take it all in...soak it all in. And, as you drift towards the castle, that bakery can catch your attention. I'd personally never been in the bakery before our trip last year. Been going to WDW since 1979. But, I can say that we did visit several times during that trip, as there was just something special about it. I know we tried the cinnamon bun...three of us shared it...but the absolute best part of eating it was sharing it with my wife and daughter at one of the little tables outside where we could see the castle, and soak in the excitement of opening time on MSUSA. Not sure if those tables are gone, too, but I don't remember seeing them in any pictures lately. So, I'll miss those. But, change is inevitable, and I know that the next time we go, we'll be able to find those little moments of magic to experience and make our trip memorable.
Anyway, not sure that I even had a point here, but for those that are really upset about the change...you really should consider letting WDW know. And, take the time to put it in writing and include your story...why it's so important to you, and why it's changing your experience at WDW.
