Trip Report Magicians in everything I see

I think I read too many trip reports.

During our time at Disney everything I saw and felt reminded me of a lot of you. Some I know by name, some I remember by something I read in a report and thought of you even if I couldn't remember your name. It actually opened my eyes to things I didn't notice before.

This trip happened so fast, a quick recap for those that didn't read my pre trip report...

C just graduated college and planned a trip with a friend, friend had to back out so me, mom, went instead. C and friend all ready had their days planned and reservations made so I just did what I was told to do. It was actually nice not being the one doing all the planning

Meet C. She is a Disney lover, compassionate, singer extraordinaire, funny human being, animal lover. You can also read every emotion on her face, disgust, loathing, excitement, sadness.

Here she is in 2010

Our Disney trip started on Sunday May 15th - Saturday May 21st.
All Star Movies
No park hopper
Reservations at ll Muliano, Oga's, Mama Melrose, Skipper Canteen.

I don't take notes and will try to retell our story as I go through the pictures. So I better get started before I forget.

It's 11:00am and time for our ILL on Flight of Passage. There was a family next to us that were riding for the first time and very confused about the seats and the wall in front of us. We chatted for just a minute and I reassured them they would love the ride. Unfortunately the lady on the other side of them ran for the nearest trash can as soon as the ride was over.

Expeditition Everest is our next goal. Wait time was higher than we liked so we did single rider.

We take the bypass around Dino Land and head to C's choice for food and beverage.

Earlier in the morning C went on the App and put our names in on a waiting list for Nomad Lounge. We were able to be seating around 12:00.

I'v disappointed so many. I've been on Disney property for 2 straight days and I am finally having my first adult beverage. So I'm thinking of you Darstarr, lostpro9het, imahistorygeek, wdisney9000, ajrwdwgirl . Too make it a little worse I forgo my Lambu Libation for the Mango Laiki Punch. It's not bad but not as good. I order the Charcuterie Board and Bread Service, C orders the impossible sliders.

My review... not good.
  • I'm sitting inside, I love the atmosphere out on the deck
  • punch < libation
  • charcuterie board was lacking
  • don't get bread service unless you're at Sanaa
  • C did enjoy her sliders and said they were good.
Such a downer review. I'm the glass is half full girl. The rose colored glass girl so this was a little surprising. I would defiantly come back. Service was great, I'd just stick to the drink I like, skip the appetizers and relax on the deck with the breeze blowing through my hair.

While C is finishing her sliders I remember when J and I met up with @lostpro9het and @imahistorygeek a few years before. It was a nice visit and that is when I had my first Lambu Libation, it was strong and I believe when we left their company I staggered to our FOP fastpass.

My husband makes the Lambu Libation at home, it is pretty easy to make. Glad you finally got an adult beverage though!

It's 6pm and we have 2 hours left in Animal Kingdom. We put in a mobile order at Satuli and head to Pandora.

The crowd in front of us. I sent J this picture so that he wouldn't have any regrets not coming. :D What, I didn't want him to be sad.

We checked in and our order was ready in just a couple of minutes. C got the tofu with rice, I got the roast beef with hash. It was fantastic!

Ok. The couple that just got up from having dinner here was the oddest couple we saw during our week at Disney, they were in their early 20's. When C and I sat down they were just staring at the man's lap. So I had to stare too. What was going to happen. Well after a short time had passed I realized nothing was going to happen and I was being rude. I try not to look over but I'm facing them and its a little hard not to. I'm thinking maybe he got bad news and she is consoling him then I think maybe they are on some drugs. It was that odd. They had already eaten their main dish and just had the blue cheesecake in front of them. He asks if she thinks he can stick the whole thing in his mouth, he then proceeds to aggressively smash it completing so that it is a cheesecake mush. They eat it. She starts wiping off his mouth with a napkin. C and I just eat quietly. It was the weirdest thing.

It's time to have a redo on Kilimanjaro Safari. We stop for a potty break and enter the que. It's a very minimal wait at 7:00pm. We hop in our truck get about 30 feet and stop for about 10 minutes. Again no exaggeration. There is a bird having a standoff with the truck in front of us.

It was a great safari this time. Lots of animals out and I got to enjoy it.

After our safari we had 20 minutes left of park time. I wanted to ride FOP again. We take the nice scenic route along the river. When we arrive there is a 30-40 minute wait. The couple in front of us were also sitting next to us on the safari. They are a very nice young 20's couple. Nothing odd at all about them. They actually try to airdrop C some photos of the safari and we chat through most of the que.

This photo is by far my favorite of the whole trip. I didn't even edit it. My goal was just the Bambi statue but then realized it was in perfect placement of the Tree of Life. :inlove:

IMG_7697.JPG

We would've had Shirley status but our driver was nice and waited a few minutes and let another couple on.

~edit~

@Tuvalu I did think of you!! I told C this was called Shirley status until the other couple got on!!

IMG_7698.JPG

The days tally.

IMG_7699.JPG

Our Animal Kingdom day was great.

Some bathrooms did need attention
Dinosaur was so dirty
All CM's were happy
We gave our 2nd safari driver a compliment on the Genie App. Her humor was dry and I love that.
Nomad was a miss this time for me but I'd still recommend it to anyone that askes

Things I missed and miss,
  • I really wanted to get to affection station to do the animation drawing. My last visit there we drew Tic Toc. I told C that @Loco_driver and A got to draw Bruce but we never made it
  • The Nemo Show
  • The Lion King show - yes we saw it but not in it's glory
  • Maharaja Tiger trail - but they're never out anyway and who wants to see enormously large bats
  • Kali river rapids - we never ride it any more anyway
  • Primeval Whirl - Yes I actually do miss it. It hurt but it was fun.

Today is Wednesday May 18th. It's relaxation day!!

I slept until 9:00 and C slept for another hour. It was very nice to get some sleep and take it slow in the morning. Finally headed to the bus at 11:30am. We decided to take a bus to Epcot then the monorail to see the resorts along the monorail. Our first stop is Poly. We are hungry and C found a dish that sounded good to her.

IMG_7703.JPG
IMG_7704.JPG

We sat inside but faced the outdoors that a few years back I shared with lostpro9het, imahistorygeek, and blreinsel and her husband. It was a most exceptional visit and beer exchange. I do remember it being very hot during that visit.

IMG_7707.JPG

I thought of many of you who are getting cupcakes quite frequently. I never get one. Today that changed. It was such a good purchase. It was the 50th Celebration cupcake - vanilla cupcake, dole whip pineapple center, and pineapple buttercream with a 50th Polynesian Celebration Medallion :hungry:
IMG_7709.JPG

For lunch was the Pan Asian noodles with vegetables. This was probably one of our best lunches while we were at Disney.

IMG_7710.JPG

I was waiting for C and wanting to sit down. I don't hate scooters, I know the majority of the people using them need them. But come on. Look at this. This couple took up at least 6 seats to park their scooters. By the time C came back they were also leaving. She sat there the whole time and He came walking around the corner from who knows where.

IMG_7712.JPG

We walked around Poly enjoying the atmosphere and guess who I thought of again?

IMG_7713.JPG

It was warm and time to move on. Next stop was Floridian. I always said this isn't a resort for me but WOW. So serene and beautiful. I could see myself staying there sometime. We stop at Basin and I saw some things I wanted to buy but thought I'd wait and get them at DS since I didn't want to carry a bag around.

Someday Teresa, Someday.

I tell C about the things I've heard about Enchanted Rose and we decide to have a drink and feel uppity in a fancy bar.

IMG_7715.JPG

Nope, not going to happen. We'll have to continue to drink at the rift raft bars. It's only 1:45pm

I'll have to ask my husband. I'm having a tiki bar party tonight to celebrate the end of the school year and that is one of the drinks on the menu. I'll try to remember! :)
A Tiki Bar Party!!! If I lived a little closer I would crash your party.

I hope you have lots of fun. Feel free to add pictures of your party here.

Sorry no pictures from the tiki bar party! It was a fun way to wind down after a hectic school year. If you lived closer you would be more than welcome.

Here is the recipe for the Lambu Libation.
LAMU LIBATION
1 oz rum
1 oz banana rum
1 oz pineapple juice
1 oz lime juice
.5 oz guava puree
1 oz dark rum

I am so glad you had a great time on the safaris the second time around and got FOP. Enchanted Rose is my favorite place—mainly because of my love for Belle. I do wish they opened at noon, or even 1, though. It would be so much more convenient!

I have heard only good things about Enchanted Rose so was a little disappointed we missed the opportunity. I'l just have to come back again to try it.

I was thinking I'd have all the ingredients but I'm going to have to run to the store. Please thank you husband for sharing.

No problem. I hope you find all the ingredients. I think we had to order the guava puree from Amazon, but we have found it in some larger liquor stores in towns bigger than ours.

We took the Monorail to Contemporary. We didn't spend as much time here. We looked in the gifts shops then mosied our way down to the bus stop to Disney Springs.

IMG_7719.JPG

We actually went into quite a few shops that I normally don't. In World of Disney I found this mug, I know I don't need another one but I love this one!! But wait. I go to pick it up and the handle is the worst. I slowly put the mug back. I'm so disappointed. A good mug handle has to have room for at least 3 fingers.

IMG_7720.JPG

It's time for snacks and a drink. Jock Lindsey's Hanger Bar has seating on the deck by the water.

IMG_7722.JPG

Nachos and margherita flatbread to share. Both were very tasty.

IMG_7723.JPG
IMG_7724.JPG

I had the Cool Headed Monkey. Very refreshing. I'm pretty sure C got Reggies Revenge. The server was so nice but a little slow. There was a table that was reserved and when the people started coming in, about 10 of them, he catered to them a lot and forgot about us little folk. He apologized for some of our delay but I won't complain. It was starting to rain and our table was a perfect place to relax and stay dry.

IMG_7725.JPG
IMG_7728.JPG

It's around 6pm and we head out during what we think is a break in the weather but don't get very far before it starting raining hard. We find shelter under this stage and sit for quite awhile, I start thinking of @ShookieJones and wondering if he is staying dry.

IMG_7731.JPG

Salt and straw is across the way and C is having a craving for ice cream. The wonderful CM wants me to sample them all. I tried about 4 different ones and went with my go to flavor of Sea Salt Carmel.

IMG_7732.JPG

After ducking in and out of a few more stores we head back to the resort and call it an early night.

Hold-ability is super important for a mug. Good call on putting it back.
