This is exactly why I want one. So sick of batteries dying after like a year and a half.$30 one time with a rechargeable battery is "cheaper" than $20 every two years because the battery dies.
All of this! I hope they are easier to get come whenever they are out. Should be for my trip next month though! Woo hoo!If you want certain ride photos to be automatically synched to your MDE, you need a Band with a working battery.
So, regular park-goers would need to buy a new MB at least once every two years.
A rechargeable MB would save money... and landfills. That alone is sufficient to cover the cost if one wants those kind of photos.
Not too mention any extra in-park specials that a battery-powered MB can interact with.
Never had that happen…once. I’d probably feel as you if that was my experienceThis is exactly why I want one. So sick of batteries dying after like a year and a half.
I do it for the ride photos. As an AP holder we got them for free or cheaper ($90 more for an AP with it). I have never had a regular Magic Band make it 2 full years. The tap points are fine though. They wind up being my pool bands.Never had that happen…once. I’d probably feel as you if that was my experience
I think it might be a long time before they're officially on sale AND they have sufficient inventory to offer them subsidized for resort guests.Question: I wonder if you can get these with the resort room “discount”? I realize not now since they were a premature release but once they are “officially” on sale.

lol - I get why they have this because the tech is already there but still...
- Experience nighttime spectaculars in a new way as they see their bands light up and complement the magic in the skies, including the new "Harmonious" at EPCOT and "Disney Enchantment" at Magic Kingdom Park.
It's effective if the whole crowd is wearing one (which they obviously won't be). It's not about looking at your own band, it's about being in a sea of people where the whole crowd is pulsing to the show. I was at one of the demo nights for Glow with the Show ears at World of Color and it was awesome.lol - I get why they have this because the tech is already there but still...
Don't look at the fireworks! Look at your magicband!

But you really need high adopt rate.
So that brings up a question I’ve had forever and never asked on a Disney forum (I know…shocking)…I do it for the ride photos. I’ll have fireworks in my backyard if you’d be so willing to give me your money. It's effective if the whole crowd is wearing one (which they obviously won't be). Oh I agree - when i saw the pictures of the sync'd up Mickey Mouse ears I wanted to get one too and figured everyone would be getting one (regardless of the fact that YOU couldn't see your own lights - but the point was that other people would and you'd all share in the experience) But yeah - that didn't work out. It's effective if the whole crowd is wearing one (which they obviously won't be). The MB+ was built jointly by Disney and Amazon, so Amazon Echo integration isn’t surprising. I’m more curious to see what they do with it. You could do things like have “Hey Disney!” welcome you back to your room when you enter. I’m not sure how much could be done with Amazon Echo at home though. The site that can’t be named has a video up of them. The boxes say they are comparable with Alexa
Now I am interested somewhat….
Could there be mini speakers in them? Surely to interact with the 50th anniversary statues, the audio would be output via the band?
Maybe with Alexa, it would then pair with the Hey Disney echo show 5 which they plan to put in the rooms. Set up an alert in the room and the band notifies you?

If you have a smartphone with BLE support, you no longer need a MB for ride photo linking. IMO, this significantly increases the usefulness of older MBs with a dead battery, since as long as you have your phone the photos will still link.If you want certain ride photos to be automatically synched to your MDE, you need a Band with a working battery.
