The site that can’t be named has a video up of them. The boxes say they are comparable with Alexa

Now I am interested somewhat….

Could there be mini speakers in them? Surely to interact with the 50th anniversary statues, the audio would be output via the band?

Maybe with Alexa, it would then pair with the Hey Disney echo show 5 which they plan to put in the rooms. Set up an alert in the room and the band notifies you?

I’m shocked at the price. There are some MagicBand2s that cost more!
And the changing lights are customizable. This just keeps getting better. 🥳

$30 one time with a rechargeable battery is "cheaper" than $20 every two years because the battery dies.

MB's still function for things like tap-to-pay and as a door key even if the battery dies, from what I remember reading. But I have no need for something like this, to be honest. I'll take an old MB with me the next time I visit, and after that... we'll see when that is before deciding.

Ehh…the price isn’t that much of a turnoff. But I don’t like the larger size…that’s all. Not much of watch cat.

The price is a non-starter for me. But I despise paying for MB's in general since they were free for years before Bob decided to monetize them by slapping a nickel's worth of "branding" on them. And the pixie dust crowd ATE. IT. UP.

Even if MB+ offered zero new functionality beyond a rechargeable battery, there's value in a $30 band that you buy once versus a $20 band you replace every two years when the battery dies.

They've also promised actual in-park interactive elements. It's not just the light and the buzz buzz. They're going to cause the 50th anniversary statues and other things to actually DO stuff. But again, even if you discount all of that and say it has zero value, the rechargeable battery is the reason I'll be buying one.
The rechargeable battery is a feature that some frequent guests may appreciate, unlike the features which people didn't appreciate about CNN+.

(I know, that one was a stretch.)

  • The ability to become a bounty hunter in Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios, where guests will be able to find virtual bounties.
  • The MagicBand+ will light up in sync with new fireworks shows in the parks, including Disney Enchantment at Magic Kingdom and Harmonious at EPCOT!
  • Gesture Recognition: Disney shares that “your movement enables magical surprises!”
  • MagicBand+ will also feature customizable color-changing lights and haptic vibrations that will “let you feel the magic with light vibrations that bring experiences to life.”
This sounds very intriguing. Gesture recognition. I wonder what we can expect with this. 🤔🤔
