Our kids got a MMC for opening the MK one morning. It was random and still a cherished framed item in our disney room. I think it's great to get them, but the random ones would me more to me. Have fun trying to get one!!

Do they give them out if you get caught doing adult activities in the Haunted Mansion? No, not me but the teens in the doombuggy next to us at Disneyland a few years ago. Heck I wanted to give them an award. hehe. Glad my kids weren't with us. Not that they would have really noticed. "Young groaping teens, ride out to fantasize..."

:king: My wife and I had a truly magical experience. We were the last 2 guests to ever ride the OLD JII at EPCOT. It was the last day of operation and the person behind us in the car was the original Imangieer who designed the ride. It was a very special moment since the ride was the favorite of our oldest son. Alon with the MMC we also received a LARGE Figment plushie as well a a photoof the event.

that's really cool!
As someone asked earlier...all locations have the MMCs, but its up to them to give them out. Some CMs try to give out a lot, others don't ever even think about it..just depends. Its not a requirement. On slower days, they probably are looking for something to do (and in a better mood  ).

Each of my girls recieved one for the same thing. They were also given Tinker Bell wands filled with candy, and we were escorted to and given the free use of a locker for the day to keep the certificates safe while we played. :)

Its things like this that, despite everything thats happening with the company now, really helps keep the magic alive and gives me hope for the future. :sohappy:

So how early should you get there to 'open' the park? Is 9 early enough, or do they start a little earlier then that?

My nephew got one of these recently during a visit to Disney Quest. He and I were in line to board Cyber Space Mountain and in the course of conversation with the host, I noted that we were celebrating Matt's birthday.

When we came off the ride, there was a call for someone named Matthew waiting at a phone in one of the other simulators. The call was from Goofy who sang 'Happy Birthday' to him. That was followed by a 'Magical Moments' cerficate commemorating his visit and his birthday.

Talk about a great example of the sort of Magic that Disney is all about and nice to see this sort of spirit is still there among cast members given all the negatives thrown around recently.

Wow, its really nice to see that these cert's are actually cherished by guests. As a CM I guess sometimes you don't realize how important even a piece of card paper can be. Free MMC's at the House Of Innoventions for ALL!!! *j/k of course, cuz if I handed them out to everyone, it wouldn't be very magical now would it?*

It's important to understand that (at least in the case of my nephew) the certificate would mean nothing if it hadn't come with the efforts of the castmembers at DisneyQuest to have Goofy on the phone to sing Happy Birthday. That's what he'll really remember, and the certificate is a reminder of that event.

The certificate isn't what's special, it's the special event that it commemorates.

You know they are handing out to many certificates when you receive one for being the first person of the day to visit the restroom next to Space Mountain.:lookaroun

That was my favorite thing to do at The Land was to have goofy call kids on their birthday. :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

My daughter received one in August when she was at Animal Kingdom. She spotted and identified six species of birds that were not listed on any of the guideposts or info sheets. The CMs were very impressed.

A non-certificate moment

I joined this board just to tell this story :animwink:

On our first trip to WDW in April 2004 we were the last ones to ride Pirates one night. We didn't know the ride was not like the Disneyland version where the boats return to the boarding point and we were puzzled when the CM wouldn't take our camera to take a photo of us and return the camera to us at the end of the ride. We were more puzzled when he asked us to take a set of keys and some kind of passcard/key with us to "the guy at the end". We took the keys and rode our spookiest ride on Pirates ever, there was not a single person in front or behind us and with all the empty boats around us we felt like we were in a true ghost town.

At the end of the ride, we met another CM and gave him the keys and he thankd us and wished us a good night.

Now, we didn't get a certificate or anything, but the ride was great, and the fact that the CMs trusted us was what made it "magic". OK, if you dig into the situation, we really couldn't do much with a set of keys, but you never know - we could have been crazy guests who wanted a unique collector's item and kept the keys and gotten the guys into trouble.

It's hard to explain, but I always smile when I think about that (I guess it's flattering to know people don't view you as a thief or axe-murderer) and I guess any moment that makes you do that is a magic moment.

Wishful
