what was the holdup getting into the parking lot this morning? What time would you recommend getting to MK on Thursday for an efficient entry?

It’s phased entry to parking to prevent crowding. Plaza opened one hour before

The parks will be used for pre opening holding areas. Parking will open at a pre determined time and then guests should be admitted freely into the parks (but not attractions) to avoid any crowding. Certainly no rope drops.

The boats themselves will still splash right? or does this mean no getting wet on the ride? I didn't realize the "splash" part could be turned off.

Yeah the splash down effect is almost all water canons

The drop itself is on rails, like a coaster (but rails at the side) - lower the level of the water the boats land in and the splash is reduced. Tokyo routinely does this in the winter. I think there’s video on YouTube of the ride running with no water on the main drop.

I suppose the ride is quite sentimental to some guests. I don't know if I'd go as far as to start crying over it being changed, but I guess to each their own.

Ah it was just about entering the parks and going down Main Street. Not a specific ride, at least from what I saw.

Yes, I did see one stream where they played the spiel for those in the park.

That can be sentimental on any trip even if you go every other month. When you first take that glance of Cinderella's Castle.

I'm most interested in finding out if Disney has installed the new bag scanners at all the parks. My daughter has a medical condition which requires us to carry a small bag with us all the time and these would be a godsend if we didn't need to have the bag checked every time.

Only Disney Springs and AK at the moment.

Only AK at the moment. Current Testing is to make sure that they can hold up with the rigors of park security (crowds and whatnot) before they are fully deployed.

I am liking what I am seeing in these photos and the measures and precautions that Disney seems to be taking. I do understand that this is just a very small sample of guests and not even the cut down percentage of what they will see on the original reopening day, but this is very promising.
