Magic Kingdom Bus Loop expansion

I always liked that open space in front of the Contemporary with the beach and the palm trees, especially when staying there with a MK view room. It'll be ashame to see a chunk of it gone. Seems that SSL just keeps getting more and more crowded.

I hope they clean up and restore that beach on the seven seas lagoon during this bus loop processs. It needs it. Get rid of the weeks and grass and restore it to the 1970s pristine look. I hate to see the bus loop eating up more open space but it could be a pretty setting adjacent to the white sand beach. We will see. I don't trust TDO anymore.

If they are going to bulldoze more of the beach in front of contemporary, atleast use the whole area to make something that is more than a bus stop

If Walt was alive I wonder if he'd build a bike network and loan out free bicycles for guests to get around the resort.

At this point they might as well just make you walk back to your hotel. It would be faster than stopping at 7 other hotels on a bus.

Whatever. This is why my folks always rent a car I guess. I used to think the busses were "magical" haha. Oh, me.

Take a look at the picture I posted in below post, rent a car isn't always faster.

And yet to leave the MK guests still have to take the monorail or a ferry, then likely a tram before they ever reached the rental car to transfer to another park. I'd rather hop the bus in the front loop, I'm glad they are moving it.

This part amused me as this isn't new:

" These load zones will provide bus backup routes for times when the monorail is unavailable or running over capacity."

This has always been the back-up procedure when the monorail suddenly goes down. It also was the procedure the day Disney management forgot to inform guest relations and TTC operations that there was a soft opening of Story Book Circus and the lines at TTC were back to the tram queues. They just rolled in the buses to start people move'n the overflow from the monorail and ferry.

Entering in through the TCC isn't always simpler than Disney Buses.

Normally they are Disney buses however in the Spring they were testing the mega capacity buses.

SlowJack, that's the way the document was stored on the SFWMD site. So, either Disney submitted it that way or SFWMD converted/stored it that way.
Oh, I was just being silly--probably should have included a :). The fact that it was in the original pdf, though--that's funny.

Yeah, that something is the 45 minute plus process involved. Park at any of the other parks and you're at the front gate in 5-10 minutes.

The MK's entrance scheme was cute when they only had 3 resorts that ran either boats or monorails to the park and everyone else had to park in the parking lot. But now that the majority of your on-site guests take a bus to get there, the process is entirely unneeded.
Well, like I said, I don't argue about the necessity. I'm just saying that arriving "the long way" is a special experience, even though I'm glad to be able to skip it. It's like how this Christmas my family went to go see "Elf" at the Alabama Theater; it's a restored movie palace, wondrous to behold, and before the film they show a short, and have sing-a-longs with the Wurlitzer, and the film doesn't start until a half-hour after the stated time. It's a great experience, but it's definitely more than I'd want to go through for every film I see. In the same way, that long process--from the car to the tram, from the tram to a ferry, standing on the top deck of the ferry as the MK comes into focus--is part of my earliest WDW memories, and I cherish it, even though I happily arrive at the bus terminal now.

Like they restored the beach at the wave machine at Poly? Like they restored the beach at Poly? Like they restored the beach at River Country? Like they restored the beach at CR? Haha. Good luck.

Notice the monorail track conveniently running right above it. Mark my words as I am about to sayeth them...

In the not-too-distant future, a property-wide "son of monorail" system will be in place. This new system will be fully automated, make use of existing monorail tracks and infrastructure, and require no transfer from any two points within the system. This looks like a logical area for where one of the many switching nodes the new system requires will get built. From here, there would be a switch and a new spur to join the EPCOT line. Other switches to other unbuilt lines would also be built.

I'm glad to see this, hope they use it to divide up the amount of resorts on each bus loop, they usedto have one bus for Swan, Dolphin, Yacht and Beach, it was always crowded and took forever

And it looks like there will be quite a few trees or landscaping in front to either hide it or "make seem pretty"

I think that was much more for using fewer buses and drivers than it was a lack of bus stops, unfortunately.

/me coughs and again says articulated buses are coming.... They have been on property doing tests. This is all part of whats coming. Transportation is undergoing many many changes.... And my source is not a bus driver. Watercraft is being changed up a bit as well. I have not heard what monorail plans yet. I know they exist though.

Well then, I don't believe you anymore. We all know bus drivers have the best info in regards to Disney. :D

ok let me go ask a bus driver then I can say that's where I heard it. ... will I get my credibility then ;-)

Does it matter if its at TTC or magic kingdom? is there a preference for the best rumor producer location?

I see what Disney is doing now... simple they are expanding there bus loop which can only mean they are phasing out the monorail... half the fun in my opinion is riding the monorail from the TTC to the MK feels more magical.

From what I have heard/seen the monorail is not being phased out. The current system is not designed to handle the current crowds. By expanding the bus it will ease the load on other areas. When the ferries go down to to wind its horrible crowds (fights break out!! in lines). when monorail goes down due to the many issues that take it down its horrible( hmmm more fights in line). If 2 of the 3 systems go down its really bad. When all 3 are up and running things should mostly often might stand a better chance to go smoothly. Right now there are many transportation issues that need fixing. The bus expansion is the first and easiest to fix.

The presumption/insider info is that the expanded MK bus loops will mean (among other things) the relocation of the Studios and AK inter-park bus stops from the TTC to the MK itself. So to park-hop the only park that would require you to go through the TTC would be for Epcot. Reducing the number of guests having to ride either the monorail or the ferry just to park-hop will take some of the strain off an overloaded monorail system.

If we have a car, MK is the one park we don't drive to for that reason.
