News Magic Kingdom and Epcot Fireworks to Resume July 1st

It’s really sad how management is so different at the resorts. Disneyland can celebrate the fourth and it was packed full of Guests and at Walt Disney world, they pretend it’s just another day.
It was interesting because about 8 minutes before EF started the same announcer woman (really sounded like a girl) made a short announcement about it being July 4th and I thought maybe they would add just a little something at the end, but no. It was just so strange to literally not see any kind of recognition at all in EPCOT that it was Independence Day. It’s usually been our go to park for the 4th of July, but no more.

Always amazed to see people disappointed by Disney doing what they literally said they were going to be doing this whole time, which was normal HEA and EF on July 4. Fireworks just came back four days ago, and getting the staffing and everything ready for that to happen was the priority, they quite literally couldn’t do anything more than what they did last night.
I wasn’t surprised that they didn’t add a tag at the end but rather that in the park they almost seemed to go out of their way to not recognize the holiday at all.

Very sad that the voices didn’t do a special show. Hearing the battle hymn with the “echo” choir is one of the most amazing live performances I’ve seen anywhere.

They didn't have any problem at Disneyland having a tag at the end. They also had stated they would do the regular show in California only but then surprised their Guests. It amazes me how people will continue to make excuses for Disney being cheap. This is why Walt Disney World Guests continue to get less for more.

I generally agree with this statement, but after seeing Mickey's Mix Magic, Disneyland really had no choice but to put a tag at the end lol.

Yup. It’s been known and repeated ad nauseam. It’s also weird to compare two different size parks, from different states getting hit with different regulations and covid numbers. I’m pretty sure Florida is getting hit with more than double what California is regarding covid numbers.

I’m glad they stuck to their guns. Enjoy the fireworks. The 4th stuff will be back next year.

Will it though? I'm sure the Magic Kingdom will bring back their great show, but even before the pandemic, was there any plans for Epcot Forever to have a 4th of July tag? I remember the big talk after the last one for Illuminations that it would be the last time we saw an Independence Day show there.
Or hell, are there any plans for Harmonious to have tags? Special shows? Anything at all?

There was no Epcot Forever for a July 4 before COVID. There were special fireworks for NYE 2019, however.

We’ll see but Ill be shocked if they do not do some type of Holiday version of Harmonious in 2022.

I will be SHOCKED if Epcot skips NYE 2021-2022 just because of Harm!

As for DL last night, good for them! However looking at YT quickly it looks like no Castle/FL pyro since Mix Magic doesn't have them you know.....

I doubt they will skip NYE, but I’m thinking 2022 they could a full holiday version of the show. Seems inevitable honestly especially if Harm is a success… in their eyes lol.

I know I'm a heathen here on this topic but I have always thought that "expecting" holiday stuff at WDW strikes me as odd. Those kinds of things are what I expect regional parks to do to pull in guests for special occasions. I expect WDW to have strong enough offerings that they stand on their own.

Or to put it another way, if it's a question of "spending money", I'd rather see it put more into making the "regular" show as great as possible rather than doing extra stuff on occasional days that a much more limited number of guests would see. Especially at WDW where the majority of guests are infrequent or once in a lifetime folks. YMMV.

We are only expecting what WDW has done in the past.

I know that the only reason I had any desire to visit Disney during the 4th of July (hot and crowded) was to see the extra entertainment. Fireworks at MK & Epcot and the voices of liberty at Epcot.

At Disneyland I went for the 4th as well to see the tag at world of color and special fireworks at Disneyland... although I didn’t really see them at Disneyland... pop up shoulder kids right in front of me and nowhere to move when you’re packed in for the 4th!

The seasonal stuff of WDW: F&W, Halloween, and Christmas -- were originally started to pull people into WDW's 'dead time' of the Fall when school restarted. WDW had a lot of capacity to fill in the off season, and this also provided a way to pull people from the peak season of the Summer.

There were successful. Too successful.
