You are absolutely correct that a ton of castle
Pyro is still missing… but as I have an embarrassing knowledge of the show from the countless videos I’ve watched, here’s the issues I found:

2:14-2:20 - wrong shells, instead of all gold bursts we have some of the gold rocket used during “you can fly”.

4:21-4:28 - Hunchback Red fans wrong direction on castle left.

9:58 - “Love is an open door” fans are meant to fire in same direction across the castle, then back the other way - wrong direction fired.

17:17-17:29 - The golden bursts that were replaced by single golden rockets at the beginning are now here, replacing the rockets used by mistake. So it seems someone put the wrong shells in the wrong mortars.

oh wow, the 2:14 and the 17:17 ones you pointed out do look weirdly like someone loaded the wrong shells. Idk though, I feel like things are always done purposely at WDW. Maybe they’re just burning thru old stock? It doesn’t look weird that some of the shells are mismatched

So I have to say it was nice to see EF in person at EPCOT tonight. We’ve been enjoying it from our balcony at the Riviera this week but nothing beats being in the park. However I have to say Disney really dropped the ball over at EPCOT today with regards to Independence Day. No tag at the end of the fireworks (we knew this in advance), the voices of liberty sang only a couple patriotic songs along with a medley of Moana songs, and a couple other popular “hits” for the early 20th century (none of the “Americana” Songs they usually sang in the rotunda, and no American merchandise for sale at the kiosks outside the American Adventure. the kiosks have actually been closed yesterday and today. Given all the people I saw wearing “patriotic” clothes today, I’m surprised Disney really didn’t have anything available for purchase. Hopefullly this is only a one time deal due to the pandemic, but it was still odd to see. On a nice note on the ride over to Epcot on the skyliner we could see some great firework shows from all around!

Disneyland did the Celebrate America tag after Mix Magic, did not expect that. Was watching a stream. 😍
I know right. They actually did a proper Fourth of July tag. Magic Kingdom was like our fireworks are grander than yours anyways so I don't think people won't mind if we didn't do the usual Fourth of July show.

No seriously, why didn't they do it? They could have just cut the 180 or 360-degree perimeter fireworks but at least do the projections with a couple of fireworks.

We must’ve been following you around! I expected more Americana from VOL, too, AND the 6:30 American Adventure show went down for “technical difficulties,” so we didn’t get to see that either. I know they’d said no extras after EF, but we still hoped. As my husband said, “It’s the freakin’ 4th of July and Disney!” It was good to see EF again, but it also reminded us that it’s not really a show worth camping out and waiting for (for us). Happily Ever After Saturday night, though, had all but the 5 year old teary eyed.

Always amazed to see people disappointed by Disney doing what they literally said they were going to be doing this whole time, which was normal HEA and EF on July 4. Fireworks just came back four days ago, and getting the staffing and everything ready for that to happen was the priority, they quite literally couldn’t do anything more than what they did last night.

Would it be reasonable to assume that these issues are caused by the recent hiring of new people to run the show as the past experienced workers were laid off due to the pandemic?
The cast member preview night had significantly more issues as well, with certain pyro falling all the way back to the ground while still ignited inside the park.
Seems like whoever is setting the pyro up hasn't been trained enough or is brand new and not fully acquainted with the show pyro sets.

* Lack of fireworks missing aside ( I'm imagining they may just not have had them yet)
