They could just stay in a 10 year schedule.
but with the replacement every 5 between night parade and day parade.
A new day or night parade every 5 years would be awesome but I can't ever see that happening. From what I understand PTN took 3 years to develop and build. So by the time a new parade is out they're already thinking of a new one. I also feel like it's kinda unnecessary for a new parade so often. I dont know. I'm kinda in between on this

oh no, I mean a cycle of every 5 years, while each parade lasts 10 years.

Example... lets say that FOF lasts 10 years, when it hits 5 years.. MSEP is replaced and a new nighttime parade debuts.
Then when the new nighttime parade reaches 5 years (10years for FOF) FOF gets replaced by a new parade and so on.
so you get a 10 year schedule for each parade but with a "new thing" every 5.

I remember new parades used to be common back in the 80's and 90's for both WDW and Disneyland up until the 25th Anniversary.

If you were to make the argument:

The MSEP is a Disney classic and should stick around.
(and I don't see a lot of people making this argument)

Then, if that's the case, it should be completely overhauled with a full RGB addressable LED show. Imagine MSEP but with the technology of PtN.

All of that would REALLY depend on it's classic status. Is it a classic like Pirates, Haunted Mansion, or It's a Small World?? I'm not saying it is. I'd say it's borderline. If you were to think it is, though, then it needs to be completely overhauled with new LEDs and effects.

If not, then it's time for the scrap heap.

I was actually think about this recently in that, yes, I would argue that MSEP is indeed a Disney classic and should be preserved. I don't disagree with the point of revamping the floats if they are going to be kept, but I was thinking more in terms of what to do when it finally gets replaced? I'd love to see them build another parade storage area on property (they certainly have the room) and keep the parade around for use during special occasions -- like maybe run it every Oct 1 for MK's anniversary each year.

I do want to see MK get a new light parade, but I wouldn't want this classic attraction to just be scrapped unceremoniously.

I don't know what I want. I like MSEP but I wouldn't mind a new and exciting light parade that is substantially better. WDW's 50th anniversary is a perfect opportunity for Disney to go all out, especially if there is a downward trend in attendance around that time.

I also think that The Year of a Million dreams was one of Disney's best celebrations. So, I hope Disney can at least best that one for the 50th.

I would like to see them announce something magical, grand, and refreshing for the 50th anniversary. Give some love to the Kingdom..
Let's see a new ride, and fresh paint and a fun celebration. I like the FOF parade. Let's have something great at night!
Hope it will be to the level of Disneyland's 50th with all the special things they did for the attractions and a brand new parade.

You and me and the rest of the Disney fans. Give us a REASON to come visit. Slap dashing something together that is a loaner from another park or continuing to use the same old stuff (really how the hell has Stich's Great Escape not closed yet, or the vast disappointment that is the freeway, with all that space unused) and they will get me to come back.

My goal is for my next trip to be sometime during the 50th anniversary celebration (my first was the 10th anniversary celebration). Just got to build up my Disney $$$s and Discover $$$s so I can pretty much have a "almost" free trip, like we did for Christmas 2015.

Out of curiosity, what is the time frame one would need to go to Disney World to partake in any 50th Anniversary celebrations that might be occurring? I mean, I know the actual date of the 50th anniversary is October 1st, 2021, but (I guess basing on what Disney World has done for previous anniversaries), would one expect any events to celebrate the 50th to start Summer (May/June?) of 2021 or would they wait until closer to the actual anniversary date? Long story short, if I plan a trip for August 2021, am I likely to miss out?

Disneyland's 60th ran from Memorial Day weekend - September 5th of this year, and the actual anniversary is July 17th.
