Well, I do love the part where it kicks in to the Mickey Mouse Club March with the bass line.

Agreed, I do like certain parts of the parade but it's starting to over stay it's welcome.
That's because the Mickey Mouse March bit was from "Neon Finale" section of the parade from the mid 70's before the America section was added.

I can't remember the post but it's probably gonna be either a nighttime parade or a dayttime parade, not both. And we definietly need the nighttime way more then the daytime. MSEP was created 44 years ago for Disneyland.
It's showings have been the following:
It's originial debut in DL: June 1972 - November 1996
It was shipped to WDW in 1999 as a limited engagement, and it ran until April 1, 2001. Then SpectroMagic came back.
The original intentions were to bring it back to DL, however due to low attednance at DCA, TDA decided to bring it to DCA as a celebration of the parks first summer. It ran in DCA from 2001 - 2010, where it was then shipped back to WDW. It was intended to just be at MK for the summer but has since then ran from 2010 till present day. MK had an exact copy of the parade that ran from 1977 - 1991, I'm assuming those floats are long gone. The original parade and the one that is currently running at Magic Kingdom is 44 years old. The Tinker Bell float is new and was added in 2008, and it also says that the Snow White & Pinnocchio floats were removed from the parade but did return in 2009, which are apparently new floats. *Most of this info is from Wikipedia, which I know isn't always the most reliable but when it comes to Disney related stuff it's normally pretty accurate*

I believe all that info is correct except a WDW version of MSEP was also running at the same time at the MK at WDW.

From the Disney Wiki:
'The Main Street Electrical Parade is a long-running parade that has been presented at several Disney theme parks, first appearing at Disneyland, where it ran from 1972 to 1996. The Magic Kingdom version of the parade ran from 1977 to 1991, and again from 1999 to 2001. The updated Disney's Electrical Parade ended its run atDisney's California Adventure in 2010, and was subsequently moved back to the Magic Kingdom, where it is again presented as the Main Street Electrical Parade.'

Yeah there is a justifiable reason, the Magic Kingdom will be 50 years old. It deserves a brand new daytime parade, not some parade that has been around for seven years at that point. Desperately clinging onto entertainment is why we're stuck with decades old shows and parades.

I agree, would like to see an actual 50th Anniversary Parade. Disneyland had one so no reason why we can't either.

speaking of parades what happened to Fantillusion? I know it went from Tokyo to a downsized version in Paris but was it scrapped like Spectro?

Or give the Dreamlights treatment to Spectromagic by making it a brand new parade while giving it new stuff.

Hardly when the floats were destroyed. New night time parade would be preferable, I point was it doesn't matter if Tokyo won't sell it Disney could build a new one.

I dont know why I thought it ended there. It would never fit our parade route anyway right
Ops would hate the show stops. Though I don't think it's any bigger than Spectro was.

The big problem in Paris was time. In the summer Fantillusion wouldn't step off until 1030pm (yes, the first run of the night) and it was still dusk. With Dreams at 11pm (yes, 11) it left half an hour to run the parade from gate to gate.

I've literally seen Fantillusion suddenly go into second gear, drop the third show stop and suddenly shoot up Main Street to clear the hub and Main Street for Dreams.

Do you know exactly why they stopped running the parade? I feel as if Fantillusion is the forgotten night parade, nobody really talks about it. I liked the music, but Paris got a really diluted version of the parade.

If you were to make the argument:

The MSEP is a Disney classic and should stick around.
(and I don't see a lot of people making this argument)

Then, if that's the case, it should be completely overhauled with a full RGB addressable LED show. Imagine MSEP but with the technology of PtN.

All of that would REALLY depend on it's classic status. Is it a classic like Pirates, Haunted Mansion, or It's a Small World?? I'm not saying it is. I'd say it's borderline. If you were to think it is, though, then it needs to be completely overhauled with new LEDs and effects.

If not, then it's time for the scrap heap.
