Maelstrom Audio Changes/Restoration

I noticed something new at Maelstrom yesterday that I'd never heard before and I'm wondering if anyone else has noticed this. Just after the lift hill and the narration about the "spirit of the seafarer" I heard a new line mentioning something more about the relationship to the sea. I must have ridden Maelstrom at least a couple hundred times over the past few years (I pretty much live at Epcot), and I pretty much have that attraction memorized at this point, but I have never heard that line before. Anyone else notice this? I did a quick search to see if its been mentioned, but couldn't find anything. To me, it sounds original, not new. My guess is its been inactive for sometime, but I've never heard it, and I've been making frequent rides since 2005.

Also, for some reason our car audio on Test Track kept yelling "left, left, left" just before the encounter with the semi. I'm assuming that's not intended, but interesting...

Maelstrom has had audio issues for a long time.... can you hear Ride of the Valkyries on the lift hill clearly? I'll have to dig out old video to see of this is an original reinstated. As an aside, I rode once with no narrations at all. That was interesting.

"Left left left" sounds like the incar audio self test was faulty. Each speaker (or channel) can say their physical position (left, right, rear (if needed) etc.) for testing. Most if not all ride car audio systems have this option.

Isn't that the part though where the narration yells "Left, Right, Left.." and so on? I think it's funny saying Left, Left, Left, as the Semi is on the left side... ha ha.

They did fix the missing audio in the viking village! I discovered it some weeks ago too.... Its original and I last heard it in a movie from 1990.

Its: "Long ago, Norway was a land of the vikings, that was the beginning of our love for the sea."
They also improved the audio from the people speaking about the voyage.

Now if we can just get the smoke, wave and rain effects back this ride would be good.

Last month in there the lift hill narration was BLARING!!! You could hear it all the way through the building at the entrance and exit........... Have they fixed that waterfall yet outside?

The ride used to be cutting edge, using a telsa coil for some serious lightning effects was amazing I heard, its shame that when I first rode it the condition it was in rotting and seriously toned down I remember waiting for this ride and thinking why is the que area in such a state of disrepair?

I listened to live recordings from 2001, 2003, 2004, 2006 and 2010, and that same line is heard in all of them.

Hmmm, interesting. Was it taken out? Or just adjusted so low that you can't hear it?

While Die Walküre is based on Norse mythology, it was written by Wagner, who's German, so maybe they chose to take it out. (Especially as they make a big deal about the score for Impressions de France across the way being entirely French composers)

All the original audio is still there and working. Some of the audio tracks are triggered by ride sensors and others play on a continuous loop. The Spirit of Norway tracks are all triggered, same with the Coast Guardsman and the River Troll and 3-headed Troll and the Troll dust.

I love the troll dust lol, the one effect that still works well and looks good. Rode it yesterday and they really have left this ride to rott. The first viking scene still looks pretty good though, but the rest of it is in bad shape. And this time the volume of the movie was beyond loud. They have also taken away every last single bench there was out front outside, the waterfall is still boarded up with a bunch of ugly stuff sticking up from it, I dont think they have made any headway because its gone unchanged for two months now at least.......but the Puffins Roost has a lot of great new merch!!!!

Last time I rode it was just audible above the lift clanking. If you didn't know it was there you'd probably miss it.

Hey, while we're talking about audio changes at Epcot, and since I don't think it deserves it's own thread, the Anglerfish scene at Nemo is now very quiet. Not sure if this was an error or intentional, but it was bad. The angler fish also now only moves back and forth. What used to be the only impressive scene in the ride has been reduced to nothing. Also, various spots of SSE are so quiet that the whirring and clanking of the ride vehicles is louder than anything else.

Rode this for the first time last Friday. Its digustingly dirty, and there must be a ton of mold because it set off my allergies BIG time... I was wheezing and gasping for the next hour or so after getting off the ride. :( It also smelled horrible.

First, and probably last time on this one. Considering what I read from you lovely folks about how cool it is/was, I sadly have no desire to step foot on it again. :\

No music and or sound effects have been running in the first half of the ride, its just narration and the ride motors, dont know whats going on there.
