I agree that Japan needs something. I do think that Italy is the most lacking, though. I would really like to have seen the Venetian ride or a Roman gods or anything on the right side of the pavilion by the fountain.
I think that would be a great use of the exisitng show building at Japan. They could create an environment similar to that of the interior of the Mexican pavilion. But instead of a Mexican market it would be the ginza district all lit up at night.marni1971 said:How about the other dormant expansion for Japan? Along with the Mount Fuji Rollercoaster, the Ginza district was to be added to the pavilion showcasing modern Japan, with it`s Bladerunner styled neon streets and LCD covered buildings... discuss!

It's been announced that Tokyo Disneyland will be recieving a new Monsters Inc ride. Yay, cool beans for them.
Here's where it gets interesting...
Monsters Inc will reside in the Meet the World show building at TDL. While this replacement of a shuttered attraction (since 2002) seems like good measure and such.. the important thing to remember is that Meet the World was originally planned for Epcot's Japan pavilion. The show building for it even exists at the rear of the pavilion.
Fascinating as adding Meet the World to Epcot is, it's not really rumor worthy - until you notice that at Epcot they've been working on that show building at the rear of the pavilion for months. We've assumed it was just general upkeep, but has it really been? The building certainly didn't "need" the overhaul, as it's design style didn't show wear and tear. Perhaps they are prepping it for Meet the World?
I'd say no.. wishful thinking... but it is Epcot's 25th coming soon. There is already major rumors of the other pavilions being updated in World Showcase, so I think there's hope. It'd be cheap coparitvely to building a whole new show, but would Epcot's World Showcase a nice draw toward the rear.
What do you think?
Do you think Meet the World might come to Epcot finally?

i totally agree, who ever planned that was high, or just not thinking hahaConnor002 said:Eh... I expect something in the WS, but Monster's Inc. is rather doubtful for Japan...

mousermerf said:I got new pics of the Japan construction - it's been going on for ages, and only on the half of the rear building that would contain the empty show building. That's the main reason i'm suspicious.
My gut says it's been under tarps (ever increasingly bigger ones) ever since Nov, possibly October. Does anyone know when it went under tarps?
They did paint the roof tops of the rest of the pavilion - but the rock work on the other wall half is immaculate and was never tarped. So, unless that other side was severly damaged...
Oh.. and heading into the museum area and rear entrance of Mitsukoshi - as you pass over the bridge, overhead there's a giant white stone structure, like a plaque or sheild, that's got nothing on it. I never noticed it before, but I bet it'd of been the marquee had the attraction been built.
Huge it may be, but even if the building was 1000' x 1000' and the attraction that was to fit into it was 1001' wide it would still be too small. Not to mention if support columns were in places that interfered with the ride relocating them can be tricky and removing them entirely is in most cases impossible.mousermerf said:Not neccesarily building, because it's merely obscuring the existing building - which is why i say the rumor than the building was built too small seems silly. It's huge.
