M. Inc. means World for Epcot?

Ok.. so theorizing and rumor mongering...

It's been announced that Tokyo Disneyland will be recieving a new Monsters Inc ride. Yay, cool beans for them.

Here's where it gets interesting...

Monsters Inc will reside in the Meet the World show building at TDL. While this replacement of a shuttered attraction (since 2002) seems like good measure and such.. the important thing to remember is that Meet the World was originally planned for Epcot's Japan pavilion. The show building for it even exists at the rear of the pavilion.

Fascinating as adding Meet the World to Epcot is, it's not really rumor worthy - until you notice that at Epcot they've been working on that show building at the rear of the pavilion for months. We've assumed it was just general upkeep, but has it really been? The building certainly didn't "need" the overhaul, as it's design style didn't show wear and tear. Perhaps they are prepping it for Meet the World?

I'd say no.. wishful thinking... but it is Epcot's 25th coming soon. There is already major rumors of the other pavilions being updated in World Showcase, so I think there's hope. It'd be cheap coparitvely to building a whole new show, but would Epcot's World Showcase a nice draw toward the rear.

What do you think?

Do you think Meet the World might come to Epcot finally?

I doubt they'd put a Monsters Inc. ride in Japan, but...

Maybe a ride that follows the same setup as Monsters Inc., but with a different - hopefully Japanese - theme.

And wasn't the Meet the World building in Epcot a bit smaller than the one in Tokyo? That's why they moved it overseas?

Let me make sure I'm understanding this correctly. Correct me if I'm wrong and help me understand, but are you saying that a Monsters, Inc. ride might be headed for Epcot's Japan or any part of World Showcase? I'm not going to say anything until I figure out what the things you said all means. If you were in fact trying to say Monsters, Inc. is going in behind Japan... well, hmm... I don't think so.

I like the way your thinking and getting to that hypothesis. But it does sound a tad bit weird for a Monster Inc ride to go in Japan. Call me crazy if anybody else thinks that that is normal.

There hasn't been a dark ride for any of the movies relating to the countries (BatB in France, Mulan in China, etc.) so why would they put a Monsters, Inc. ride in Japan. The only other thing I really gathered from your post was that maybe you were trying to say the area is big enough for a Monsters, Inc. sized ride.

That is a rather mismatched theme, in my opinion. Monsters, Inc. would be cool in the MK, and even better in MGM-Studios. :D

That always made me wonder. Why does everyone say it would be better suited for MGM? All the dark rides are in the MK.

Oh. I thought that was what you meant at first, but then I saw others' responses. Yes, that sounds more probable, but from what I know, I believe Meet the World had issues with capacity and upkeep, so I wouldn't expect it.

One wonders how "capacity" can be an issue on a shuttered attraction ;)

Well, wasn't it similar to CoP, except with the show scenes revolving around the audience, so there was more space for show scenes than for seating?

Monsters, Inc. is in the Hollywood Backlot area of Disney's California Adventure, which is very very very similar to Disney-MGM Studios. Thats why I figured it would seem fitting there instead of the MK... :) Its right next to Muppet Vision 3-D and the Hyperion Theatre.

Seats rotate just like CoP, each section holding 200 people, 4 rooms, show length being 19mins. 800 per full building, 3 full shows per hour, 2400 is the capacity - greater than SSE at 2200.

The building is bigger than it looks. All of the Japan pavilion was built at 2 stories - to match the size of the needed show building.

It wouldn't of been published in the Epcot book if it was never going to be built as originally planned.
