'Lost' The Ride?

As I've said before: Why would Disney spend good money that could go elsewhere on an attraction based off of a TV show that isn't going to be around for that much longer anyways?

Oh, wait...

The people from American Idol paid a lot for the rehab and construction. Disney really had nothing to lose with AIE.

Did not know that. Thanks. Makes me feel a modicum better about the situation.
The fact that it's a crowd sucker almost makes up for the annoying contestant SINGING while I'm trying to eat at the 50's Prime Time Cafe.:fork:

I know the whole thing sounds completely ridiculous. especially the idea of having a ride on the island. that makes no sense at all.

I know the idea was thrown around, and the same with a pirates attraction (yes, I read jim hill too). I never thought it would actually do anything, and I still don't.

what puzzles me the most is that they say they are quoting Disney officials! I'm just confused by the article. I feel like I'm missing something.

Just because they write it does not make it true.

There is no way on Earth that this is going to happen. First off, Universal would most likely get Lost before Disney. Second, Lost is going into it's final season next year. Disney is not going to make something based on a show that has just finished. (unless it is merchandise)

Nah Disney would never make a ride or attraction based on something that has ended its run...:lookaroun

it's abc, it is disney.

don't get me wrong guys, I'm not a lost fan boy by any means. I've only seen it a few times, but Lost interest. I'm not rooting for this. I think it would be a giant waist of money on something that wouldn't generate any revenue.

that article just didn't make any sense.

Concerning the American Idol experience-
My question on this has been why would Disney promote a show that's not on a Disney network and that's not produced by Disney/ABC. Should Disney start promoting an America's Got Talent show at the Studios? Very doubtful since it's on NBC which is apart of Universal. Wouldn't this be a conflict of interest? Also, American Idol is on at the same time as Lost and I feel the company should be supporting their own shows not another network's show.

I do not see a Lost ride or attraction ever being at WDW. Now, they could take one of the soundstages and put a behind the scenes tour in of Lost or maybe other ABC shows. It could feature props, costumes etc. I think that would draw guests and wouldn't have to be a permanent attraction.

I don't think they should be building attractions to support any shows. TV networks are fickle, movies are timeless. I hope they stick to movies in theming even at DHS.

I'm not debating whether Lost belongs at Disney ... it's a multiple Emmy-winning series produced by Touchtone TV and airing on ABC. It's been a huge hit when audiences for dramas are dropping unless they're mindless CSI shows ... of course it does ... in the right place(s) ... those would be either TPFKaTD-MGMS or something like TSFKaDI.

But Disney has no intention of doing anything, so again it's a moot point. I wish it weren't.

But maybe we'll all get a Tink E-Ticket at MK ...

 Hey, I like those. To be honest I can't stand Lost at all and am glad to see it not happen. Does that mean it couldn't work at a different place, maybe even in Las Vegas where that Star Trek junk used to be.

Also, ? A Tink ride? I swear that I hope that is sarcasam.

I do miss the Disney TV element of the Studios...They need something besides BIG signs and a commissary fast food restaurant. At least have an ABC store. They are missing the boat there for sure. If they made it like the NBC store in New York it could be AWESOME! That store even has green screen opportunities for guests to appear in shows...like superstar television but as a keep sake :) Lets do it Disney.

FYI the American Idol Experience is NOT repeat NOT a partnership with FOX. American Idol is owned by FremantleMedia, who partnered with Disney for the attraction. Think of it like Star Wars and Indiana Jones...The movies are Fox and Paramount, but Lucus owns the rights.
