Yeah I was thinking the same...

It would also explain why the door only opens from the inside...but how did this man get in the hatch in the first place....how does he come in an out of there (if he does or not)....is the substance in the needle Desmond injected the same substance injected into Aaron while he was still in the womb (remember the whole sequence when Claire starts screaming because they injected her stomach with something...I think they even showed it real quick...but I don't remember)

What he was injecting was the vaccine to the disease that killed all of the French Woman's crew members.

the injection bottles (according to a friend who watched it over and over with tivo...) also had the numbers in order on it! I think it was 4-8151623-42 or something like that.

Why do you suppose walt was talking backwards? (that is a great find by the way!)

For those interested, "Lost" averaged 23.1 million viewers in its second season premiere, which is an all-time high for the series, even above last year's season finale. It crushed NBC's new "E-ring" at 9pm which averaged 9.4 million in its premiere and CBS's repeat of the CSI finale at 9pm from last year (10.5 million).

A note on the mural on the wall..

I says "I am sick" on the lower right.

It's partially a pictogram - an eyeball (there's actually a faint letter "I" there too, but it's hard to see so i think artisticly the directors chose the more prominent eyeball) a big letter M and the word SICK.

The magnetic power might be electromagnetic and may have something to do with the power source and also the entire island being shielded from the outside world. Remember the comic book that had an illustration of an island with a force field around it.

So, the magnetic power could have possibly been the reason why the plane crashed in the first place...screwing up the system aboard the plane?

Just a thought.

BTW....the historic definition of Quantine is something like "40 days of solitude".....the first season represented the first 40 days on the island

According to Entertainment Weekly, we're going to meet some new survivors soon. Michelle Rodriguez signed on to the show and will provide romantic tension between Jack and Kate...a love triangle if you will.

Okay folks...I'm ready to kill...I purposely avoided watching Lost last night because I thought my Tivo was set to record it...I wanted to watch it the next day and skip the commercials.....yup...you guessed it....it didn't record. I'm so angry right now I could bust a gut.

Could someone be so kind as to give me a summary of what I missed in the season premiere? Truly. You have no idea how angry I am right now. :brick:

anyway

Man of Science, Man of Faith
Air Date: 09/21/2005
Against Jack's better wishes, Locke and Kate rush to venture into the hatch. Jack follows to find no sign of Kate and Locke being held at gunpoint by a man whom he recognizes from his past.

In flashback, we see how Jack miraculously saved a woman named Sarah - the same Sarah he ends up marrying - and get a better understanding of his journey from man of science to man of faith.

Meanwhile, back on the island, while searching for Vincent, Shannon has an eerie encounter with Walt - who was last seen being taken by the Others out on the open ocean.

I need to start keeping the episodes on tivo for afew days after, so I re-watch the show and catch all of the things others tell me about.

This is floating around other sites, but Shannon and the guy who died in the car accident in Jack's flashback have the same last name.....[edit...I just saw the Speck also mentioned it in an above post....]

and for recaps, I always check out www.ew.com, and more reciently www.tvgasm.com. they have pretty good recaps of the show, in much more detail.
