Well, for you lucky people, the Season 1 set comes out today. Still no word about it down here, but since rumors say we'll only get the new season around March, I think it's safe to say I won't see it untill Christmas, with any luck, or more probably by February.
In any event, if some of you are still not sure if the box set is a good acquisition, maybe this review will help: http://www.tvshowsondvd.com/sitereviews.cfm?ReleaseID=4701

The guy sasys is the best TV box set he's ever reviewed, and the site is about TV on DVD, so that should say something...

TVGuide.com had a listing of the new season schedule and had a listing of the dates all the shows start back on. Lost was on Sept. 21st. I believe.

(well...maybe spoilers) *shrugs*

Well I didn't want to venture in this thread until I was able to catch the second half of the season (on dvd)...

Personally I don't think the season finale was dissapointing...I think it did what it set out to do, what it was supposed to do...keep the viewers wanting more so they'll watch next season...

Also...I don't think it was mention in here but Locke seems to know more than anyone else on the island about the island. There was a scene in one of the first episodes, I believe the third one...where he meets face to face with the "monster" and he smiles....I thought that was strange...stranger still was the scene closer to the end when he has a look of horror on his face when facing the beast again...

Throughout it all I kept, wondering whether the end will be worth it...it seems risky to keep writing the show the way they're doing right now...because the more they wait to give answers the greater people expect...but to be honest I have no problem with what has been revealed and kept from us...I just hope when we find out all the answers it will be worth it...

Also...go out and get the first season on DVD (if you haven't yet)...awesome box set, interesting bonus features! It was cool watching the first half again and seeing things I hadn't noticed before....observe LOCKE...there is more to him and this connection to the island...lets not forget he was refered to as "colonel"...

EDIT: They have some "exclusive" bonus disk attached to the box set, if you buy it at Best Buy, I don't know if they have the same disk at other places...

Upcoming New Episodes

Special: Destination Lost
Airdate: September 21, 2005 at 8 p.m.

ABC once again invites new and avid "Lost" viewers to take another look at one of the most talked about shows. "Destination Lost" will explore the series in a way that will bring new viewers up to date -- but which current viewers will also find illuminating - in anticipation of the series' second season premiere. From the back stories of some of the most interesting characters on television to the mysteries of the island, "Destination Lost" will provide an insightful glimpse into the lives of some of the survivors of the doomed Oceanic Airlines flight 815. Narrated in a linear fashion and culminating from the pieces of the back stories told over multiple episodes in the series, "Destination Lost" focuses on the flashbacks of a core of characters -- illustrating who they were and what they were doing before the crash, and how the island has changed their lives, for better or worse. In addition, the island itself will be explored - culled from events that have taken place - which may reveal some of its secrets that might have been missed upon first viewing. Source: ABC

Wow. Thanks so much for the info, Speck!

By the way, I ended up getting the box set the same day I posted (2 above). It is the single best DVD set I've ever watched. Just... wow.

Very interesting premiere...any thoughts on the "quarantine" bit....

Well, I recently became a big fan of the show... (I caught up on the first season over the summer), and the one thing I learned about lost is that it seems like in every episode more mysteries are tossed onto the pile.

I honestly have no idea how the writers are going to tie it all together. I just hope the series only lasts a couple more seasons. That way, we will eventually get conclusive answers, and it won't become mysterious to the point of annoyance.

Did anyone else notice the mural on the wall in the hatch with a big 108 on it? 108 is the sum of "Hurley's bad numbers." 4+8+15+16+23+42
= 108. Kinda cool.

My opinion is that the numbers will have a huge effect on the conclusion. Maybe it's the formula to some chemical or mysterious substance. Maybe it's the combination to a lock. Maybe it's the number of survivors alive at the end of each season. Then, again, maybe the writers are just screwing with us. ;)

it was written on the INSIDE of the hatch, which makes me think the outside of the hatch is the quarantine area

Good point!! Explains why the man down in the hatch was giving himself shots of vaccine (perhaps?). Oh and that hatch guy…. I figured he would be seen again on the island after he told Jack “see you in another life.”
Can’t wait for answers to know how he got in there, why and what is up with all the computer equipment.

The Walt scene in the jungle was a bit creepy. Not too sure what he said, though.

some quotes/questions from another board:

The comment that caught my attention during the stadium scene was when Desmond said "I'm training for a race around the world"... I keep coming back to this one... at first I thought maybe it was an athletic race, especially with the workout scene from the hatch... but could it be that he is part of a special race of people instead?

The magnetic power might be electromagnetic and may have something to do with the power source and also the entire island being shielded from the outside world. Remember the comic book that had an illustration of an island with a force field around it.

Also noticed that guy who died in ER was called "Mr. Rutherford". That is Shannon's last name and didn't one of her or Boone's parents die?

http://img360.imageshack.us/img360/5029/rxvial4xn.jpg

What if part of the opening sequence is Desmond's backstory. The spot opens with Desmond getting up and going to his computer, which appears to be an Apple IIE computer circa 1981 or 82. But then the music starts and he's in a modern apartment training... for his around the world race. He's eating good, exercising, and injecting himself with steroids(?). And there's sunlight! He's above ground. Then the music stops, and he's back in real time, in the underground pod on the island.

Holy God! When you play Walt's words in reverse, he is saying very clearly:

"Where's the button... the button's bad" here it backwards at http://www.lostlinks.net/

Maybe he means the 'Execute' button Jack almost pushed???

Yeah I was thinking the same...

It would also explain why the door only opens from the inside...but how did this man get in the hatch in the first place....how does he come in an out of there (if he does or not)....is the substance in the needle Desmond injected the same substance injected into Aaron while he was still in the womb (remember the whole sequence when Claire starts screaming because they injected her stomach with something...I think they even showed it real quick...but I don't remember)

I wonder what that substance is....

So...the new season previews told us that....they aren't the survivors they thought they were....how does that fit into everything? Especially after seeing the first episode of the new season...

Are Desmond and boat people on the same team?

For everything that gets answered a new mystery must be presented...without that pattern the show would be boring...I think they continue doing a great job balancing things out...we found out what was in the hatch...but we also found out WHO was in the hatch and his connection to Jack...that was great!

"See you in another life?" I wonder what Desomond means by that....

Lets see what happens next week....

Wow! I was wondering if the number stood for anything... really good conclusion. :)
