We are leaving shortly for WDW and 3 of our days according to touringplans.com have gone up to a 10 on crowd level on a scale of 1-10. We need to find some fun things to do other than rides during the mid-day to help break it up with all those crowds.

Any ideas please post them.

Thanks! :)

Most of the best things will be out of the parks and at the resorts. Water craft rentals, carriage rides even a trip to the arcade are great, almost always crowd-less diversions. If you are kidless trips to the spa and golf can be great diversions as well.

Thanks. I should mention we have 2 kids ages 10 and 3.

Definitely looking into boat rentals, surrey bikes and carriage rides. We also will do some resort hoping to see the decor but not sure how long that one will last with the 3 year old.

Thanks! Keep em' coming.... :)

If you are staying onsite, I would take advantage of morning and evening EMH. Use the afternoon to nap/swim at your resort.

plan some dinners/lunches at the resorts. We (for the first time) did some resort hopping to eat and it was wonderful just exploring the resorts. The monorail resorts make it super easy to hop from one to the other. And they are gorgeous and have excellent dining options.

Bring a splash ball or 2 and head to the pool to play around a bit.

Also, if you want to stay in the parks...do some shopping, look for hidden mickeys...maybe do some fun things like play checkers in Frontierland or take some time on Tom Sawyers island.

Maybe get up extra early and try breakfast at the parks. This gets you a jump on the parks for the day to get some E tickets done for the day before the crowds come pouring in.

Hope this helps. have fun!

Head and do some Put-put golf....or enjoy the resort and all that it has to offer. Some resorts have activities such as jewelery making, button making and painting ceramics. We did this on our last vacation this past July and had a great time. And believe it or not it made the vacation seem that much longer.

The craft stuff sounds great. Where did you do that?

Thanks!

MrToad, how soon are you leaving and which days are supposed to be crowded? I ask because I am arriving at WDW tomorrow for a long weekend (coming back home on Monday)

As to the crafts, I know that all the DVC resorts have them, but am not sure if they are for members only or open to all guests.

Low crowds and Christmas decorations, too! Sounds good, thanks so much for the info.

I expect that Epcot will be pretty crowded on Saturday & Sunday for the end of the Food & Wine Festival, but that's why I'm going, so I'll just have to put up with it!

Our family is always fond of a round of mini-golf at Fantasia Gardens or Winter Summerland to kill a few hours. Often, if Epcot or DHS is too packed, we'll walk or take a boat out and walk around the Boardwalk/YC/BC district for a few hours, grabbing some ice cream or doing some shopping until we feel like heading back.

We're very easy-going park visitors.

We have been there for Thanksgiving week the last 2 years. It's crowded but really not that bad. Use those fast passes and whatever you do do NOT do Magic Kingdom on Thanksgiving! Epcot on Thanksgiving is a great park to go to.

I would definitely advise going to some of the other resorts and looking at all they have to offer and the decorations! You can actually go out the back of Epcot and walk some of the Epcot property resorts. I think my sister mentioned Boardwalk (?) has a chocolate carousel that is a must see and I think the Yacht Club is back there and such. She said they are all within walking distance and beautiful! We have never been back there so that is why I don't have alot of specific info but I know somebody on here does!:)

I have to agree with Touring.plans. I went last year the week of Nov 18-Nov24 and the first 5 days were low crowds, walk on rides type of days. TERRIFIC! When we awok on Nov 23rd it was as if the flood gates had opened. People everywhere! We had to wait 2 hrs  just to ride TS Mania with my 5 yr old, 11 yr old and 16 yr old (need I say more). Instead of teling jokes, Mr. Potatoe head should have been handing out tequila shots to the parents (yes, it was that bad).Unfortunately this is the nature of the beast if you go around holidays, so don't be surprised to see those lines on headliner rides. This year we are going Nov 13-20. Less crowds and less headaches,I hope.

Good Luck and keep a positive attitude. Your'e in the happiest place on earth!:sohappy:

With your kids being 10 and 3, if you have the water park option you can take them downtown to disney quest, which is a indoor interactive theme park with 5 floors of all kind of video games for free, me and my kids go everytime were in disney. With the parks being crowded its a great alternative, well worth the money, so i know for sure your kids will love it.
