so we're 10 days from a potential long term closing no one saw coming, which would occur during a relatively busy time, and still no word/confirmation? Strikes me as odd...

Now thinking about it, it is rather unusual. Guess it really was a rumor the whole time.

Your username's hilarious.

Thanks :)

It does seem unusual, but just as I'd be surprised if it happens the way we seem to be speculating on this thread, I also WOULDN'T necessarily be surprised if it just shows up closed for two months either. Refurbs haven't been the most clearly announced thing the past few years. This one just seems especially unexpected.

I disagree. It would ________ me off if they closed an attraction because a speaker wasn't working or an AA had lost motion. I'd wait until maybe some other elements failed before thinking about closing the ride.
But if it was just a speaker that failed or something small they wouldnt have to shut it down. They could replace something small like a speaker overnight, or it could open a bit later in the day. Unless you are just going to a park for that day it wouldnt impact your trip that much.

As far as them not giving much notice, I really dont believe Disney thinks closing LWTL is going to make anyone change their plans or in the grand scheme of things enough people really care. Just my opinion. I love the ride but I wouldnt be all that upset if 2 weeks before we go they said it would be closed. I would say "Well something to look forward to on our next trip."

It seems like a refurb on this ride could be done fairly quickly. If the boats are the same size as reported, they could be put into place in a days time. Same for the updated movie, its probably already done and just needs to be loaded. I cant see it being down for more than a week for these two changes unless there is more that is not known. What else could be done?

if the boats are ten rows they are bigger than the current ones, I think they are seven rows????

that would explain it if they close down for two months, at least itll be done by december when we are going, totally enjoy that ride

The new boats don't have 10 rows and they are the same length as the current boats. The boats could be swapped out overnight so having downtime on the attraction must be for something else.

Don't misread that to mean the attraction is unpopular; it sees many more riders than Imagination. LWTL absorbs a lot of Guests and keeps the line moving, much like the HM or PoTC rarely have lines over 30 minutes. I've seen the LWTL queue extend into the dining area, and the wait was still only 30 minutes.

When they were using fast pass I've seen waits of 60 minutes on here, and I have a sneaky suspicion that these waits were artificially created. Either they didn't have the cast members for the narration, or they simply chose to run fewer boats. Either way, waiting more than 5 minutes for this is a waste.

That was a while ago, already! Early 2000's.

I could be wrong but didn't this just recently have a refurb when they went to an automated guide?

Yeah this happened after Soarin' opened so it wasn't that long ago.

Very interesting...3 Years is a pretty long time for a water based ride, though.

I wonder if it's getting the refurb?:lol::lookaroun

That refurb was more of a patch job. The only thing that was changed was the fact that the narration was now completely pre-recorded and Soarin' was mentioned. Other than that the ride is the same as it has always been since the 90s when it became Living With The Land. I think adding to the boat capasity would be a good improvement, as would changing the ending and updating the films inside the barn. Maybe some actual changes will be made to the ride this time...

I had heard that occasionally cast members would let some of the american crocodiles out into the water way... that could result and a much more thrilling experience.

Have the references to Nestle been removed from the Film areas and the film yet, in Nov they were still? That might be part of this.
