Live trip report

Just got here yesterday afternoon, and even though I wore myself out yesterday, I'm still "too excited to sleep" so here I am... I apologize if this is boring or doesn't make sense, but I am still pretty tired

Southwest got us to Orlando about 20 minutes early. I used their early bird check-in and was the first person on the plane other than handicapped people and their families, so that was pretty rad.

Then I hopped on the DME to Wilderness Lodge. I was the first person in line for the bus so I did end up waiting a bit, but it was alright, I needed the chance to rest. I was in my room by 1pm, a little less than 2 hours after the plane touched down. We were the third stop on Magical Express, after the Poly and Grand Floridian.

I wasn't sure if I'd like the WL. I'd visited before to eat at Whispering Canyon and the decor, while beautiful, isn't really my thing. Well, now that I'm staying here, I am in love  This place is breathtaking, and the room is great. I've got a ground floor, king bed handicapped room, right near the pool. I could walk out my patio right over to the path to the boat docks... if there wasn't a garden in the way... My only complaint is the bed. I'm not loving it. I can understand my legs hurting, considering I was on my feet so much yesterday, but now after waking up, my shoulders are really sore. Oh well.

Alright Florida summer, I'm ready for you.

Headed over to the MK to officially become a Walt Disney World annual passholder. My first two rides as an AP'er were the TTA and CoP... then I broke the CoP. We watched the introduction 3 times before we were evacuated  Figures.
I didn't take a lot of pictures because I wanted to be able to soak everything in. When I went on Big Thunder, a little kid who was told to go on alone by friends or family or something, I never quite figured it out, decided we were best friends and requested to ride with me. It was nice to have a ride partner, even though he was a little nervous and tried to squish me with the lap bar in the hopes of making it tighter

By 1:39pm I was on the bus, and I was the only one on the bus.

I've also got a birthday button, even though my birthday was two weeks ago. Seriously every CM and some guests I have come in contact with has wished me a happy birthday. I highly recommend it, it's really sweet of them.

While sitting outside the Astro Orbiter, enjoying a cream cheese pretzel, I noticed some unsupervised kids playing with the wait time wheel! So now we can't even trust the wait times!

I stuck around for MSEP and the Nightastic fireworks... MSEP is the greatest thing ever. That was the most fun I have ever had during a parade. The fireworks were fun, but they seemed really short! The castle on fire effect was amazing though.

Alright, time to start my day! Off to Epcot!

Thanks guys =)

I forgot I have a piece of advice from my first day: See Carousel of Progress BEFORE Hall of Presidents. After getting evaced from CoP, I went a-wandering and saw HoP for the first time (I know.) It was absolutely incredible and is so inspiring, I'm sorry I never saw it before. But going on Carousel after was almost a disappointment, seeing how out of date those AAs are.

On to Epcot!

This trip is my first time at any rope drops, and so far the only one I've been to is Epcot. Holy tamole, the mass run for Soarin is out of this world. Don't know if I want to do that again! But I did go with the crowd and get my Soarin' FP for just 45 minutes later, then I headed over to Captain EO. Never saw this before either. Luckily there were only a few people in the theatre because I sat and giggled the whole time. I am so intrigued by the concept of Michael Jackson's dancing having the power to change evil robots into teenage backup dancers with mullets. Fantastic.

Then I went back to Soarin -- while I'm not a huge fan of this ride, I do love riding it with newbies. Their reactions are great.

I did eventually ride everything in Future World, ending my morning at Spaceship Earth, before heading back to the hotel for a rest and some lunch.

I do like how Roaring Forks is almost never crowded.

Oh that's another thing, WL bus system has been awesome so far. I haven't had to wait long for a bus anywhere, and no one has had to stand anywhere. The only thing I don't get is why isn't bus stop 3 covered? It started downpouring last night and I had to run back over to the MK stop to get out of the rain

After a nap, I went back out to see Future World. I saw O'Canada, and have now officially seen everything in Epcot at least once. I enjoyed it.

After IllumiNations, I wandered around for a little bit, got stuck in the 10 minute single rider line for Test Track (a car had broken down and the ride stopped for a bit) and then headed on out.

Friday morning was my Keys to the Kingdom tour! I got to the MK super early, about 7:30, for my 8:30 tour so I sat outside the gates for a bit and soaked up the atmosphere. At a little after 8, I went in and checked in for the tour. Then I ran up and down Main Street taking pictures

Enjoying some early morning coffee at Wilderness Lodge

The tour was pretty good. We got to ride Jungle Cruise, Pirates and HM all together, which was cool. I got to eat lunch with a nice family from Iowa whose daughter is a dancer in the MK parades. I told her how much I loved the Electrical Parade, and she said it's a guest favorite, but everyone in the parade hates it because it's so repetitive. I'd think being in any parade would be super repetitive, but she was really nice and was my ride partner, so I didn't say anything  We also spent a lot of time down in the Utilidoors, looking at all the photos on the walls and such, it was really interesting.
At the end, we found out it was our tour guide's first time going out by herself, and she did a fantastic job.

Then I went back to WL for a much needed rest (were my feet tired!) and after a while, I decided I wanted a real dinner. Looked up what was available for reservations online and settled on Sci Fi. I should have listened to the reviews. Sci Fi is horrible at dinner. I go for lunch on almost every trip, and it's always packed (even in the slow seasons) and I always just get a burger and shake. This time, there were a lot of empty cars, and I got the butcher steak... yuck. It was tough and tiny. The green beans and carrots had no flavor, and the potatoes had too many herbs on them. I also asked for an Oreo shake, and got a strawberry one... I didn't say anything though, so I shouldn't complain.

After that I dashed over to see One Man's Dream before it closed for the night.

4890209606_2aa824e10b_z.jpg

Then I went back to the MK for EMH. I watched both showings of the Electrical Parade, taking photos at the second one because it was much less crowded.

Love these guys!

Great live trip report. Can't wait to hear more! One of my favorite memories of Wilderness Lodge is sitting down in the lobby early in the morning drinking coffee. It's so beautiful and relaxing.

Poor CoP. Seems to break down a lot. It happens to be one of my personal faves - air conditioned & shaded from Florida summers, nice place to sit down & relax before waiting in line for SM - maybe fast pass even.

I look forward to reading more :D

I really want to go on the Keys to the Kingdom tour, but last time, it was completely booked. I guess I'll have to try in the "slow" season.

My boyfriend got to go in the utilidoors for his WDW orientation. He said they even have a map. I'm dying to go on the tour so I can figure out what he was talking about when he was describing them to me. :D

Fantastic report! Loving it! The pics are great, too. Isn't Keys just wonderful??? I can't wait for the boys to be old enough to do it. They'll both just be out of their minds crazy digging on it. That's what happens when you raise Disney geeks. LOL!

Sci-Fi dinner...I know...and I'm sorry it blew for you, too. For the future, even tho the burger isn't on the dinner menu you can ask for it. I did. I was almost in tears looking at that dinner menu when our waitress came back and I was whining about missing my Sci-Fi burger. She told me I could have one if I wanted. So sweet!

Can't wait to hear more. Glad WL has turned into a fav!

My last day was Saturday and I didn't do a whole lot. I went to DHS early and got there just after the rope drop. Went down and got a fastpass for RnRC, then went to ride Tower of Terror. I didn't care for the Summer Nightastic stuff, but knowing it wasn't permanent made it a little better ;) Also, I think this was the only time I've ever ridden where some smarty-pants didn't try to scare everyone by screaming when the elevator moves forward. I hate that.

I also went and spent a LOT of time in One Man's Dream, taking a ton of photos of the exhibits.

4895747337_88e9670fb3_z.jpg

I had to go and see The Muppets since I was there

4896344344_41614007b4_z.jpg

And then I made my way to the boat dock to go to Epcot. This boat captain is the ONLY person to ever make a comment on my EPCOT tattoo! I was the only one waiting for the boat and as they pulled up he said "Someone sure likes Epcot, huh?" and he told me about his time there on the ride over. Made me happy that someone finally noticed!

I explored World Showcase for a bit, pining for the Beatles stuff in the UK, before my Le Cellier reservation. I'm a little bit of a Beatles fan ;)

I had ordered the strip steak with cream cheese mashed potatoes instead of the scalloped potatoes. They originally brought me the scalloped, and when I asked the waitress about it she apologized and brought me a giant serving of the mashed 'taters! I ended up boxing them up and eating them much later that night

After that, I wandered slowly out of Epcot back to the WL and PASSED OUT. I didn't wake back up till 9pm! So I decided to stay in for the night.

Rest assured, I do wear deodorant.

Next morning, I took some photos of the room and explored the different quiet spots in the hotel reading my Kindle til it was time to catch the DME home.

This was a perfect length of stay for a solo trip. I did everything I wanted to in the 3 parks I went to, and I could have fit a few things in AK in if I tried. This was a wonderful experience, I can't wait to go solo again! Though as soon as I got home, my mother announced to me the whole family wants to go in January... so it's back to planning!

I thought it was really interesting how the walls are color-coded so you know what "land" you're under. Like the walls in Tomorrowland are purple, etc.
