Live(ish) Trip Report - Celebrating 25 Years of Wedded Bliss in NYC

My hair doesn’t seem to want to dry, so I went on the OpenTable app to adjust our reservation time to 7:30. Easy peasy. Reservation modified to 7:30 pm on Wednesday, May 23.

Ummmm hullo, that’s not what I want. After multiple multiple failed attempts to fix it, I had to break down and call them.

All good for 7:30 tonight.

Now to revisit the menu. I’m pretty sure I’m still going with Caesar salad and lamb chops.

Clearly I was not aware that this TR had already been made. You know I don't get out of WITWIBS too often.

Wow, what a great meal. I mean, really, really great. As you know, we like meat. I asked Mike if it was as good as Yachtsman or Narcoossee’s, and he snorted derisively and said “Oh yeah”.

We were asked if we were celebrating anything tonight, and we replied that it was our 25th wedding anniversary.

Rather than being seated at a tiny two-top, we were placed at a more spacious four-top. We were also brought two complimentary flutes of sparkling wine. And to show my appreciation, I even had a sip. A tiny sip. A fraction of a teaspoon; but a sip nonetheless.

Calamari and Caesar salad to start. Whoda thunk it? I eat a lot of Caesar salad, and this was absolutely top three.



The fork is on the plate to provide a sense of scale. This thing was massive!


The lamb chops were tiny, as lamb chops are, but they were absolutely wonderful, and I ate every bite.


From all the reviews I’d read online, the hash browns were highly recommended. Mike said they were fantastic. I didn’t have any, so he brought some home. He can’t wait until he has some more room for them.


Again, following the Internet reviews, we got the coconut cake for dessert. I had a few bites of this, and if I get kicked out of ketosis, it will have been worth it.


A lot of money (‘cause hey, I’m cheap), but it was a special occasion, and worth every penny.

Your tardiness is not excused, and you shall pay the $13.52 parking for up to 1/2 hour, unlike the discounted $9.29 like the rest of us.

This is actually part of a store window display, but it really struck me in light of the stories we heard at that the Tenement Museum. One of the Chinese women was fingerprinted as part of the process to sponsor her sister and family to the US. As a result of so many years of hard work at her sewing machine, she in fact had no discernible fingerprints on her thumbs and index fingers. The gov’t had to use different fingers. Can you imagine?

And now we’re in for the night. Planning to walk west tomorrow to check out the Hudson River and the Intrepid for Mike.

It may be more crowded than usual at the Intrepid but it should be awesome to see all the service men and women and the parade of ships up the Hudson.

Holy Hannah, there are a bazillion school groups down here. We’ll skip the museum and just walk around.

Quite by happenstance we came upon the very first entrance (or last exit perhaps) to the Highline.
