That may have made sense before the reshoots, instead they saw the negativity over the magical friends photos and the stars statements and decided to throw more money at it and try to salvage it. I think they’re in way too deep now not to release it and make something back.

I hope I’m wrong and they ultimately release an enjoyable movie but my expectations have never been lower for a Disney film.
Its not like it can't happen. Take a look at the nightmare fuel that was the original sonic the hedgehog model. Those images were ridiculed as much as those magical creatures. But they went back, reworked what people didn't like, and had a very successful release. Enough to get a third movie and a spinoff show.

That said, do I think that Disney has the ability to fix it? Absolutely not, the talent just isn't there. But it isn't outside the realm of possibility. It did work for rogue one, but not so much for Solo, so who knows.

Yes
Just pointing out that stating that Snow White does not even deserve streaming as fact…based on an interview from Rachael Zegler which some YouTubers have twisted to fit their political agendas is not fact

No, most Actors are not role models, nor well educated (there are exceptions of course like Mayim Bialik, Danica McKellar,
Dolph Lundgren to name a few)... they pretend to be someone else for a living, some better than others. I'm referring to the published images Disney released after the "magical creatures parade" image was leaked.

Fiscal Q3 ends tomorrow, maybe they're trying to get the write-off in on time.
Hey, you’re back. 👍🏻
I think it will tank regardless as there's already a mob of people rooting for it to fail and getting money from YouTube ragebait.
I think you may overestimate their reach (?)
In this instance? "Traditional" Disney fans. You can define that however you want - family values, nuclear families, white, middle-class, 2.5 kids and a dog, patriarchal, old, straight, normative, etc - they know it when they see it.
If you think gay is automatically opposite of family values, that’s on you.

I’m gay, and my marriage has outlasted not only my straight siblings’ marriages, but also my parent’s (including their second marriages.)

We’re the best example of traditional family values after my late grandparents.

Welcome to no longer being a supermajority. The rest of us have put up with it for a long time.

Well, that looks about as bad as I expected. Bad CGI animals, and the miscast lead actress is a disaster. The Wicked Queen is beautiful, whereas Snow, who's supposed to be a threat, is nowhere near her level. Plus she's lacking the innocence of the animated version, so how is she going to be naive enough to believe in a "magic wishing apple" from a creepy old lady and bite into it?

Smart move by Disney though to show only the dwarfs' shadows in the teaser. If the animals look bad, what are THEY going to look like?

Hard pass.

The CG animals are bad for sure. Maybe it's a shift from mermaid where most hated flounder and Sebastian because they were supposed to look photo realistic. So shift to a more cartoonish feel.
The Wicked Queen is beautiful,
Gal will probably be the best part of the film. She looks fantastic as the wicked queen. Yea they should have uglified Gal because there's no way she ain't the fairest in the land. Lol

Oh they showed them. Go back and watch again. While they are all dancing you get a pretty good look, albeit a short look. And hopefully the next 7 months will be used making them A LOT better.

And let her in again even after express warnings if I recall. At that point it’s no longer “innocence” and likely wouldn’t play in a live-action film.

I believe it is probably a case of certain YouTube ragers trying to create an anti-Disney narrative and then their followers spreading their message
Now that they’re seeing something different, the narrative is that Disney responded to the nerd ragers by firing Rachel Zegler, adding dwarfs and re-shooting the entire film. Except there’s still Rachel Zegler 🙃

As I see it, there are only two problems with this trailer ... but they are BIG problems. First, the dwarfs look like they are in the wrong film because they are CGI and not humans. Swap in the 2024-equivalent of the cast of Time Bandits and that problem would have been solved easily.

Second, there isn't a universe where the actress playing Snow White is in the same league as Gal Gadot. By conventional beauty standards, there is no comparison. Which is a big problem because the conceit of the film is that there is now a person who is clearly more-beautiful than the queen - it's the inciting incident of the story.
I absolutely will not weigh in on Gal vs (anybody else) other than to say, “____ should be prettier than Gal Gadot” is an impossibly high - if not impossible - bar to clear. It’s an unfair comparison to anyone, in any universe or time.

What if the “feminism nonsense” is still there - along with Rachel Zegler? What if they didn’t completely re-shoot the film co-written by Greta Gerwig?

Makes one wonder if Disney isn’t just making the film it wants for its intended audience, which is unlikely to go into extended analyses of “conventional beauty standards.”
