Little Mermaid to receive Updates?

I love this ride as well, and I'll be upset if it's closed for my October trip.
But sometimes they have to close attractions to make them better...I would rather have it close and reopen as something much much better than it is...wouldn't you? there is SOMEBODY out there with plans to visit the park at almost every day of the year... you cant fix anything and still keep everyone happy.

I've always thought that with the amount of things needing to be done at each park, Disney should just plan a drastic park-wide refurb for like 4 years from now. Announce now that they'll be closing one of the parks for 4 months 4 years from now, so no one makes vacation plans then to be disappointed. Then when the time finally comes, it's open season for construction, not having to worry about working around guests or hiding the ugliness, or keeping things open. It's never gonna happen, as as the time came closer people would put off their vacations, but I still think it'd be logistically easier.

don't worry, we won't have that refurb until 2015

Do you know this for sure? That gives me hope to see the ride again. I've been looking forward to it.

And I understand that, I just don't want one of my favorite rides closed during my stay.
Seeing that one of my favorites is always down for refurbishment.

There are no plans to bring this refurb over to our version of the attraction at the moment. Not a single person has stated it's coming our way.

Pretty sure Spirit said eventually for this and BTM will get the additions. Probably not for a while, considering the NFL and Hub work. Not to mention, the various refurbs in late August.

Pretty sure it's somewhere in the Spirit thread that it is (at some point, eventually). I'm pretty sure I remember him posting that, as well as saying we're getting the BTM addition, eventually.

Spirit did indeed confirm we were going to get BTM's upgraded effects and Mermaid was going to also get the upgrades from DCA. Sounds like Mermaid's upgrade at WDW will probably come next year. From his wording it sounds like BTM's upgrade may be before that (perhaps even this year, sounds like they may even be able to do it at night without closing it down).

It seems like the updates for DCA's ride will not be as extensive as previously rumored. This is what today's article on MiceChat states:

On Paradise Pier, the Little Mermaid attraction is wrapping up its refurbishment and will reopen by the end of next week. The enhancements you’ll see when the ride reopens include a black light-based re-Imagining of the “Under the Sea” room and another new hairdo for Ariel in that scene. Plans to rework the ending of the attraction didn’t make it through this refurbishment but are still expected to come at a later date.

Agree, the black light based redo of the Under the Sea room sounds good, would like to see that happen here as well. Sooner, and not another decade or more. They will keep pushing it back till it just doesnt happen.
Exactly, look at all the rides over there that have updates that our rides never get.
