Additionally, I think these changes do make a helpful difference. The ride is still conceptually flawed, but this definitely improves the execution. The extra fish floating around all over are an improvement over negative space. I'll be very excited to see the new take on the final 3rd of the attraction if and when that comes to be.

It appears that, in addition to Ariel now having "real" hair in "Kiss the Girl", it seems that Eric does as well. That seems to have been carried over to the Wedding Finale as well, unless I'm seeing things incorrectly.

Ursula also seems to look more "wet" than she used to, like "Part of Your World" Ariel's hair.

I'm interested to see if there's anything else new hidden in here.



Yes, that is the function of Creep Mode. Often it is used when a guest needs extra time loading or unloading. As a result of the omnimover, all the vehicles are slowed.

EDIT: To clarify, the ride can be slowed on command. It's better show to keep the ride moving, if slower, than to stop it fully (unless it is needed).

If they really wanted to fix this ride and I had a magic wand I would redo the intro and the end of the ride, the only scenes now that are truly perfect in the ride is the under the sea room, and Poor unfortunate souls. But I would get rid of the screens, make it so that you actually enter ariel's grotto instead of pass by a weird version of it and put in a real climatic scene at the end!

It's an Omnimover -- doesn't it move at the same speed the entire ride? If the ride is longer, wouldn't that mean that all the vehicles are moving more slowly?

Yes it would. And yes they do.

The reworked ending was removed from this refurb. A further closing will happen to implement it.

Changing the ending would be tricky, because they're missing the entire prince-chooses-Vanessa-instead section of the story, and then the big reveal, etc.

I thought it was sort of clever the way they dismissed all the omitted story beats by having Scuttle "narrate" the ride and say, "And that's exactly the way it happened... pretty much, I think."

I think the ride went into "Creep Mode" just after "Under the Sea".

I was watching side by side and could not keep them in sync even at the start of the ride... I don't think it was a creep slowdown

I would think that now that Mine Train is opening it should take some of the crowds away from LM and allow them to do this. Although with the speed TDO moves at 18 months seems almost quick

Looks great however that rushed ending still bothers me massively. Ursula does Ariel a favour and dies as a result. Needs sorting.

Yeah, that's the problem with trying to shoehorn an entire movie plot into a short ride. As a stand-alone story the ride makes no sense at all.

Personally I'd like to see Peter Pan and Winnie the Pooh get some love first. Mermaid is still, "new" to many people so while I'd like to see it get improved I think the other Fantasyland dark rides should take precedence.
