I have read all the rumors on the new e-ticket dark Little Mermaid ride but have seen little in the area of more specific details. Does anyone know more the rides specifics?

Try a search for Little Mermaid DCA. WDW is due a clone of the new standard of E Ride being built in Californian Adventure. A lavish dark ride, immersive sets, plenty of animatronics, state of the art special effects, a great ride system and memorable score. Just how they used to build them really.

I can't wait. This would simply be the best, to get a brand new dark ride.

I can't wait.

Wait, did I say that already?

There is real commitment, creatively and monetarily from Iger, Lassester and Co, to fix DCA. At least WDW will get some of the "scraps."

From the sound of it, it seems like it will be an awesome attraction!
But we're not going to get a watered down copy of the Little Mermaid, are we?

^Yep.
It ain't a sure thing quite yet. Almost...but not quite.

And no, it won't really be watered down. It should be the same attraction with a different facade.

^^ Al Lutz on Miceage has implied that the MK version will be somewhat watered down from the DCA one.

Al Lutz has pretty much implied that EVERYTHING at WDW is a watered-down version of DL's. Take his information with a grain of salt.

A great ride system? Can you elaborate??

Because the DCA drawings (although preliminary) appear to show the Nemo "Clammobiles"---not even a true omnimover, just a fixed single-direction chain of vehicles. Not that its a bad thing. Man that system has capacity!

My only question--knowing how Disney markets-- is why they would want two high-profile "shell" rides.

I had the exact same thought. There are rides in WDW with the same type of ride vehicle, but not the exact same themeing. I would hope they would design a different looking vehicle.

Could this ride be the one that was featured in the Little Mermaid DVD?
When I got my DVD, I remember in one of the special features there was a proposal for a ride that was not approved. Part of the proposal included a video of the ride from the rider's point of view. It was an awesome ride and I was disappointed that it had not been approved (at the time).

I hope TPTB changed their minds and this is the ride being built at DCA!!

It's a true omnimover that rotates there are concept drawings that clearly show the vehicles swiviling in different directions and the environment will be fully themed in all directions. Disney leaves the cheap stuff for WDW.

Um, no it's a different ride. A much better one.

And yes this will be at DCA like it or not (I for one, like it).

I don't think so. I heard only the exterior would be much different. The ride should be pretty much the same.

I hope so. It does seem to me that, with the notable exception of Animal Kingdom, that WDW has gotten the shorter end of the stick since after 1994.
