Rumor Lion King Flume Ride being considered for Animal Kingdom

I get it, but I honestly feel like what they have done the last 6 years has actually been far better than the decade before that. And some of the portrayal of the last few years has felt a bit over the top and the caricature.

Not needing people to be cheerleaders, but the relentless pessimism is just exhausting. If I felt this negatively about the parks, I don’t know if I would still be on a forum like this.

Not speaking about you specifically but just in general. Some people just feel like they always want to chime in with negativity.
Agreed. Just for my sanity I stop following the site at times because the negativity is overwhelming, and also no longer surprising. As soon as something new is announced, I can pretty much guess the reactions by most of the perennial posters.

I remember when the Epcot changes started, I signed off for about 4 years because I knew how ugly those threads would be. I’m back now because of all of the new stuff coming down the pipeline. I don’t engage nearly as much as I used to. The threads aren’t as enjoyable anymore. They are honestly a constant downer.

DLP hasn't had a new ride in over 30 years and are adding things to what is the worst Disney park ever built, this is such a bad take.
And yet, Disneyland Paris is a much better castle park than Magic Kingdom is currently, and the Lion King ride will blow every dark ride added to the domestic parks in the last 25 years completely out of the water.

Most would agree with you. I can’t think of a single “addition” that is above a 7/10. Most aren’t even above a 5.
See, that’s where I definitely disagree depending on how you define “most.” Most on this forum? Certainly. But I think most general Disney-goers will look at Pandora, SGE (even cost-cut), Guardians, and even Tron as 8-10 out of 10’s.

It’s hard to be optimistic when it feels like management is purposely screwing the pooch. Even my extremely positive parents are done with the place. They don’t call me out for “unwarranted negativity” anymore because it’s completely justifiable.

Pandora is further than 6 years out now. SGE has failed to entice the fans of said property that are outside the theme park ecosystem. Most think of it as a disappointment. I’m probably one of TRON’s biggest defenders; I see consistent disappointment with it. Even so, those three would be what I consider to be the 7s. They have merit, but are all held back by fatal flaws that prevent them from being classics.

What’s SGE? Rare I come across an acronym I can’t decipher.

I guess in my mind then I can't think of anything save maybe Expedition Everest that opened in the 2000's/early 2010's that would be above a 7 based on your criteria.

And again, I have a different feeling about how the general population feels about these lands/attractions. Most people I talk to think GE is the best land at WDW.

if the concept is have a log flume based on characters from The Lion King, yeah that could be a lot of fun...but do we know anything about it other than that?
They have a model and the showbuilding is HUGE. Like almost twice the size of Splash in Tokyo. It’s going to be a long dark ride that will need to be properly filled out with detailed sets and animatronics. Makes sense given it’s supposed to be retelling the entire Lion King story.

you can bet if it comes here it will be a shortened budgeted version. would love to be wrong though.

If that is the case, and we keep the characters in their film time period and setting it could be great... I can't imagine them undertaking a project that would be more elaborate than the original Splash Mountain though... I would be thrilled to see it if they do.

Classic domestic fan response. Yeah, because DLP getting 3 new rides (Tangled teacups, Frozen clone and Lion King) in the next few years is a lot better than WDW getting a Monsters Inc Land, 2 Cars attractions, a Villains Land and Tropical Americas, in addition to small addition like Test Track's refresh and Zootopia 3D show.
It may be just three new rides, but their resort is getting new worlds of atmosphere, ambience, new places to hang, dine, eat, and a brand new lagoon for another added nighttime firework entertainment. That's plenty of new nestling nesting for the locals.

I agree this looks great for DAW, and I wish they would do something similar at DHS, which is currently a mess in theming. I love the World Premiere Plaza concept and think it could fit for the "hub"at DHS as well.

DHS is not exciting to me, Toy Story Land is little eh fun looking land but nothing more, Galaxy's Edge is ...Muppets Courtyard is nostalgic at least. Animation Courtyard is drab. DCA had Cars Land and now is getting Avatar. Cars would help DHS not a Monster's Inc retheme and one attraction that's indoors. Frozen Land or Moana anything would bring something to want to go to. Frozen is in Epcot but that doesn't mean something else even Renaissance Disney lands or attractions can't exist at DHS!
