Rumor Lion King Flume Ride being considered for Animal Kingdom

Let’s see which park gets their attractions first and what they end up being after the cost cuts.

I am willing to bet the international parks make out better.

Problem is it’s Sooooo far in the future for the domestic parks it’s a very long time to find out!
Frozen for WDS was announced in 2018, and is opening in 2026. That's 8 years. Everything announced at D23 for WDW is set to open in the next 5 years.
Actual Disneyland Parc Paris has not had a new attraction since 2006, and no new expansion since 1995. Fantasy Springs at Tokyo Disney was the first new attractions at the resort since 2020 and was announced in 2018, opening 6 years later. Hong Kong and Shanghai's last new offerings opened in 2023, but work hasn't began yet on their new Marvel attractions (1 for each resort) only just announced. The narrative that all the international parks are getting more and better investment than the domestic parks simply isn't true.

I hope you prove to be totally right and I am wrong!

I can guarantee everything announced at D23 will not open in 5 years!

At least 2 of the 4 international parks are owned by a consortium that make their own decisions and fund them. Not sure what the status of HK is.

Which means it’s somewhat misleading to lump them all together.
Sorry to lump them together. I still think the international parks get better stuff especially Tokyo!

Yes, you are correct, DLP could not be lumped in with GREAT park like Tokyo.

Tokyo had a sub-par investment cycle in the 2010’s. Really the only park I’d put on a pedestal as a function of investment per size is Hong Kong. Mislaunched, but a very nice consistent investment pace.

Otherwise Disneyland Resort and surprisingly WDW (which I was never very complimentary of a decade ago) have been largely fairly good resorts for their pipeline as of late. This lull notwithstanding.

There’s just a tendency to only tune in every 5 years to the international resorts and feel like their projects popped out of nowhere. They really didn’t. Fantasy Springs was a ten year outcome of the soaring attendance in 2013.

DLRP still remains the ignored child.

I think some people have just become bitter about the domestic parks and there is a bit of cognitive dissonance with it now. I think it is fair to doubt Villains will be open in 5 years, but I think there is very little evidence to think anything else announced won’t be open by then. And that is still a lot more than any of the international parks.

DLP, as in the Disneyland Parc is stunning. It took the best of DL and WDW and improved it. I was blown away by it.
Discoveryland actually had a theme -until they plonked Buzz into it.
Adventureland and Frontierland are far more interesting than the MK versions. With so many paths and features to explore, the feel of them is so much better.
And of course you can go into the Castle, and visit the dragon in the dungeon.

@Starship824 was referring to the Studios park.

Insinuating DLP of all resorts builds more and faster than any other park is so funny
I was just there. It was actually refreshing to see a park that was not messed with by modern Disney. WDSP is a joke of course but Parc Disneyland is great specifically because Burbank isn't there to mess it up like it does with the American parks.

Hater classic:

1. Assume Disney will do something disappointing in the future while ignoring anything good.

2. Get angry about it now.

Hater is a strong word. Its also incorrect.

I don't want to know how much money I have given (and continue to give) to TWDC in my lifetime. I know its way too much.

Also, I am not angry at all. I just know everything announced at D23 will not open in 5 years. Maybe some of it and I when I say some of it, the cost cut version of what was shown.

Angry no. Hopeless maybe.

but Josh told us these were "shovel ready" projects :)

I will also guarantee everything they announced will not look like their concept art before and after budget cuts

well in all fairness...there have been a lot more recent disappointing things than good things so their track record doesn't help optimism
That is how I feel... If they had a recent track record of completing their projects quickly and way better than expected...but seems like there will be huge budget cuts and quiet cancellations...which has been the way for some time now... I would love to be a cheerleader and think everything is going to be amazing... but have not seen them do that lately.

Gotta be honest, I see more relentless pessimism on this cite than cheerleaders. Like any time someone posts anything with excitement there are 5 people coming in to say it'll suck.
again that is a lot of us reacting to what we have witnessed of late... I would love to be a cheerleader again...and I was for most of my life... a huge fan... I will be happy to gush about something amazing...I did when they finished Everest ( when it was all working)...

I get it, but I honestly feel like what they have done the last 6 years has actually been far better than the decade before that. And some of the portrayal of the last few years has felt a bit over the top and a caricature.

Not needing people to be cheerleaders, but the relentless pessimism is just exhausting. If I felt this negatively about the parks, I don’t know if I would still be on a forum like this.

Not speaking about you specifically but just in general. Some people just feel like they always want to chime in with negativity.

They’re trying slowly now they wholly own it. Hopefully the Parisian push back will continue.

On the whole I’d argue the opposite. But that’s just me.

And that is valid I don’t want to say people with a negative opinion are wrong for expressing it. It’s more the little “digs” that just get exhausting after a while.

But I also want to make clear I don’t think it has been anywhere close to perfect. The Epcot “transformation” was awful, Tron took way too long, and some of the cancelled projects are really disappointing.
