I could be wrong on all of this.

The rumor is that we'll soon see per-park Genie+ pricing. So if you want to use G+ at two parks, it'll potentially be 2 separate purchases.

No word yet on prices.

I don't expect prices to drop, at least at MK and HS. For one thing, a price drop would essentially be a discount to guests who only visit one park per day. And there's already enough demand at the popular rides. A price drop would only make that worse.

I've heard (but not seen) that the MK price will be the same as "all four parks", which would encourage you to go somewhere else after the MK. That's another way of shifting demand.

I'd expect lower prices at AK and EP, in part to encourage people to go to those parks. Also, as we've shown with ETPE, there's really no need for G+ for resort guests using ETPE at AK. So this per-park strategy allows them to reprice the value proposition.

I still expect per-park prices to fluctuate every day.

I've not seen how IT will implement all of this. I'd expect that any sort of change/refund will require you to visit Guest Relations, since I doubt that will be built into MDE.

ETA: This is just for WDW, not DLR, which is not changing (I'm told).
If they are going to do this, I hope they come up with a 1 park G+ price, a 2 park G+ price, a three park G+ price, and a 4 park G+ price, and the additional cost is less as you add like multi day park tickets are.

This would encourage purchasing of G+ for multiple parks and make more money for Disney.

They're out of their ever-loving minds. Seriously. Who the hell is okaying this abomination?
I think this has been the works for a bit and on the surface of it, I think it should improve Genie+ experience for a couple of reasons:
  • The parks aren't equally weighed with the amount of attractions. MK and AK should not cost the same amount.
  • MK can handle more Genie+ users, but under the old system if it sold out at AK - it sold out for MK.
I don't think it's a huge deal, but there is a reason why they saved this for a Friday news dump.

What happens if you want to upgrade from the one park option to the multi-park?

"Asked if guests who purchased the service for one park could upgrade to a multi-park option after the fact, a Walt Disney World spokesperson informed us that guests could purchase Genie+ for the additional park and visit Guest Services to be refunded the difference between the combined total and the Multi-Park price."

Yep.
100% sure it is!
👌
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

With the bookings pillow soft, don't rule out some Bubble Perks returning from the grave. They won't keep running 40% promos seasonally without some changes that will benefit the consumer.

Is it cheaper to bolt on free Dining, Genie+ with packages or provide airport transfers than to discount rooms $100-400/night?

Also known as: "And most guests will either forget to visit Guest Services or not want to bother waiting in yet another line to get their refund."

Thank god I’m a weekday pass holder. I don’t need to ever invest or buy this crap or LL

That said, Disney really does not want people park hopping anymore is my impression between this and no hopping until after 2. And people are not going to spend full days at Epcot or AK, at least not with some repetitiveness. Especially AK. So e this will make MK even more crowded with less hopping, IMO. Again Disney kicks the freakin can down the road. Build, more, freakin, capacity.

As we recently shared, we are working on ways to simplify the Disney Genie+ service, including offering the ability to plan before the day of your visit, which many Guests have asked for. We plan to share more news in the future, but in the meantime, we also want to improve the experience for guests using the service as it exists today, so we will be making an update as we continue to listen to guests.
Beginning June 27, Guests at Walt Disney World will now purchase Disney Genie+ service based on how they want to visit. Guests will be able to select either a single-park option or a multiple-parks option, subject to availability. With this update, prices may now be lower at some Walt Disney World theme parks compared to others. Guests will continue to be able to purchase Disney Genie+ service through the My Disney Experience app on the day of their visit.
We will continue to listen to guest feedback, and look forward to sharing more information about updates to Disney Genie+ in the future.

This is clearly designed to drive sales at parks (EPCOT and AK) where G+ isn’t selling and to try and get people out of MK.

I doubt it will do either.
And increasing cost at MK and Multipark

Also, currently they need to stop selling when any park reaches the max # they would sell, now they can keep selling at other parks even if one is full

So if MK sells out, can keep selling at AK or EPCOT (for example)

In the end, will cost more for people just doing MK or hoping and maybe a bit more for DHS. Will cost less for people only doing Epcot and AK than under the old method

In aggregate I am sure Disney things they will make more total $

Nothing like spending an hour of your time in MK where you already paid $159 to get in to have to stand in line at guest relations to get a $6 refund.

Oh, I can definitely see them giving "free" G+ to packages (at rack room rate)
