Bolded IMO is part of the issue going back to FP. Guests feel they need FP or Genie+ to visit the parks.

Hey quick coaster knowledge question. King's Island in Mason Ohio, been there? We aren't much into looping coasters anymore. Am I correct in that this park has a good amount of wood coasters? And non loop steel ones?

(Sorry off-topic)

Was there a LONG time ago and it had some classics woodies. Hope they’re still there.

The beast - if they still have her - has been on the short list of woodies of all time. Like the cyclone and my T-Bolt

Diamondback for a non looping steel is top notch. The Beast has been mid-track braked into a much rougher ride that my childhood, but is a classic. There are some good thrills to round out the day beyond those.

Been there a few times. Wicked Timbers is a really good woodie. They just added Orion which is 300ft non looping coaster.

Ok…this thread is sideways…but I did not follow KI for a long time. It used To be a pretty legit park…and I hoped it still was. Wow…didn’t realize cedar fair bought it (it was a paramount park)…but they aren’t kidding Around. Major B&M presence now…and the woodies. Great looking park.

Now I want to do a dolly/KI combo trip.

Good park. Could be more “theme” less amusement, but they know what their true customer demographic is (locals and close regional travel) and have leaned into that very well. Especially for their 50tb this year with shows umpired by retired dark rides-firewotk shows that celebrate the history of the park-parades that use snippets of the opening year slogan in the original theme song, original “fan art” competition e we ugh tgg hey e winners shown like an art gallery and made into collectible posters, you know… all those cool things a park does to honor their past AND their loyal fans.

I think the Portofino rooms look very dated.

Polynesian still has the Brady Bunch visits Hawaii kitsch factor which is part of the charm (for me anyways).

Beach Club lobby needs a refresh (but man, I just love the Solarium), Yacht Club is looking fantastic lately. For me personally, I think the hotels are quite beautiful and I love the gardens, courtyards, and then their own version of a Boardwalk. I love these hotels. :)

Cabana Bay looks great.
Someone once described the Poly as "vaguely Californian motel look" The Portifino also has 16 foot ceiling which shocked me. I'd only ever seen that at the Don Cesar.

I haven't been following this discussion that much, so sorry if this has already been mentioned before. But what is the consensus on how usefull genie+ is if you're staying off site? Seeing that FP+ was basically useless for, what are now mostly LL+ rides, if you didn't stay onsite for more than 3 nights.

There are a few headliners you won't get a shot at on most days, otherwise it's almost as useful as for resort guests. It's kinda like you are showing up 1/2 hour late. Things pop up when refreshing and many attractions don't sell out 'till afternoon, there are charts around.

That said I feel about the same about it as FP+. If I'm going to spend my time and money there I'm getting all the sparkles, which means I have to be at a Disney resort. I would be depressed by the scheme if off site.

G+ is still really useful if staying offsite. You have the same shot as on site guests for your first one of the day at 7am .... Really, no difference for G+ for onsite vs off

The paid ILLs (so Rise, FoP, etc) you are disadvantaged as onsite can book at 7am and offsite has to wait until park opening

Obviously you also lose the early entry benefit so in some ways it makes G+ more important if staying offsite as rope drop isn't as valuable

I guess I thought G+ started at park open for off site, did they change that? Sorry for giving out bad info.

Is there any data on which rides usually have a delayed opening? I think after experiencing it once at WDW and twice at DLR, the most valuable LL selection you can make at 7am is a ride that will probably be delayed.

Off the top of my head: MK: Splash, EPCOT TT, DHS TOT?(when it only have 1 side up), AK Dinosaur?
